Long Island Cablevision extracts, Dec. 28, 1978 (or Jan. 10, 1979, if you want to read the YT title) · 9:05am Oct 25th, 2016

Long Island Cablevision, December 28, 1978. A local music show called "Sounds Good" (the band featured in this particular clip was described by one user as "amateurish") is about to end. When it actually does (one user noted that he knows half the people in the credits of the show), it goes to promos for "Perspective" news show and an upcoming showing of "Dr. Dolittle" (due to the year, this particular film stars Rex Harrison rather than Eddie Murphy), then the "Friday Nite Fren-Z" intro for a showing of the movie "Tommy", which was correctly described as the Who's "widely acclaimed rock opera". Wrote Jesse Skeen, who uploaded each video, "it appeared to have both local programming and unedited, commercial-free movies but as you can see here they DID talk over the end credits to promote upcoming stuff - [Mr. Skeen not only feels] doing this during "Tommy" especially should be grounds for life imprisonment, but [also that] this movie shouldn't even be played in mono. ([Mr. Skeen] think(s) this was the first movie to be released on 35mm with an optical stereo soundtrack, though [he has] heard elsewhere "A Star Is Born" claims that honor.)"

Ends with a promo for the film "Man of La Mancha", which followed the rule of most of United Artists' musicals (having failed to recoup any bit of its budget). Useless info in the spoiler tag: Sophia Loren could sing (see "Houseboat"). Following this is a local program called "Of Time" featuring the the (still active) theater performer Kurt Peterson (not to be confused with later Dallas Cowboys all-star Kurt Petersen). Finally we have Susan McAllen (?) talking about movies on "Channel C", then the tape runs out.

IN THIS VIDEO: The "Dr. Dolittle", "Man of La Mancha" and "Perspective" promos were announced by Doug Keck. McAllen (?) also announced the "Friday Nite Fren-Z" intro and voiced over the end credits of "Tommy".
