Starlight Vs. Sunset · 5:03am Oct 11th, 2016
Hello everyone this is going to be longer than my recent blogs, brace yourself for it if you haven't already.
Now I said I would do a bit of an in depth-ish look at the circumstances between Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer. The first step is just look at their names. Both first names have an S, and the second name(Last?) ends with Immer. If that isn't coincident then... just wow.
The real step one: Causation of their 'Incident.'
Starlight: When she was younger, a filly, her best friend Sunburst was the only friend she had. When he got his Cutie Mark, and she didn't, he was sent off to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. He wasn't seen again until after the Incident. Starlight afraid to make new friends, as she feared they too would leave her. She did what any sensible young mind would, she became despite toward Cutie Marks believing that they cause all the harm, fighting and inequality between ponies. But more specifically friends, believing that in order to be friends one must not have their Cutie Mark.
Sunset: Sunset was a young gifted Unicorn, who became a student under Celestia herself. When she felt that Celestia was holding out on her, she grew bitter and manipulative. Blaming Celestia for hiding things from her, she fled into a magical mirror that was connected to another world(Human world, but the word Human is taboo.). Abandoning her studies for what she felt was a better place, where she could rule until she had the power to takeover Equestria.
Step Two: The 'Incident.'
Starlight: Starlight at one point came across, a plot of land in which the perfect scheme came to mind. The starting of a village(Our Town), where she tricked ponies into giving up their Cutie Marks for "True Friendship" using a stick she found lying around at one point. After sometime she made a decent population for her village. At one point however an Alicorn(Twilight Sparkle) and her friends(Mane Six) arrive. They requested to see the Cutie Vault(I think that's what it was called... hehe I'm a little sleepy... and forgetful!), which she happily granted. When they got there she questioned them about who they heard about the place from, which Pinkie Pie accidentally lets slip that a someone wanted their Cutie Mark back. Starlight, still using the stick, takes the Mane Six's Cutie Marks and locks them in the building. That was the Brain Washing building, all of her population has been inside it at one point or another. Sometime later Fluttershy joins Our Town and sees Starlight still has her Cutie Mark. Some water splashes on her "Cutie Mark" revealing it to be stenciled on her with makeup(?). Breaking her own rules, she reveals that it is her own magic that allows her to take the Cutie Marks(Not the random stick.). A chase scene later, she escapes and everyone has their Cutie Marks again. An unspecified time later, she has altered one of Starswirl the bearded's spells, allowing her to travel back in time. The time she goes is the time Rainbow Dash did her first sonic rainboom, the reason the Mane Six got their Cutie Marks. Spike touching the scroll sends Twilight and himself back in time, where they witness Starlight stop Rainbow Dash. They were then sent to an alternate universe, before trying multiple times to stop her, each time they were sent to a future worse than the last. In the end Twilight realizing that she can't beat Starlight and Starlight can't beat her, she tries to convince Starlight to give up. She does this by dragging her to the alternate timeline, an apocalyptic wasteland with nothing but a dead tree. Starlight gives up a short time later, after Twilight's talk about friendship.
Sunset: After she fled through the mirror Sunset was in the new world, a school, with humans and not ponies. She found herself as a human(I imagine she had a similar reaction as Twilight), and started manipulating and taking over said school. She dated Flash Sentry(Brad) to gain popularity, during which she worked on ruthlessly breaking up friendships and becoming the princess of the school through fear. About a week(I think, it was a week...) before she steals Twilight's crown Brad breaks up with her. A week(... Again I think it was that.) later she enters Equestria once again, steals Twilight's crown swapping it with the cheap knock-off she brought with her. Twilight chases her, but she throws the crown through the portal before escaping through it herself. She, like every other year has been in the human world(Sorry Human is supposed to be Taboo... I just haven't thought of what else to call it.), through fear and intimidation runs for Princess. This year she expects to run unopposed, to her dismay, somebody chooses to run against her. Twilight Sparkle, who she finds is the princess she stole from and her... -kohai(Why not? I'm tired, and that was what came to mind the most.), the one who has chosen to oppose her in the election. Twilight manages to get her friends back together, and after that does a musical number gaining trust to be put with her, also negating most of the fear people are facing for going against Sunset. As a result of this Sunset has her henchmen(?) Snipes and Snails trash the gym, where the ball dance thing will be held. Going overboard Snipes and Snails destroyed it a little to much, but that works out well for two reasons. The first is that Sunset was trying to frame Twilight for destroying the gym and getting her kicked out of the princess election thing, which failed thanks to Flash(Brad). The second was everyone worked together, excluding Sunset and Snipes 'n' Snails, to rebuild the gyms decor. While Sunset and henchmen were trapped inside the broom closet because they could not enter the gym(A sign said that, not me!). She then somehow gets outside. During the dance thing, which Twilight wins, has Snipes and Snails bring Spike the dog to where she is. With a sledgehammer ready to "Smash" the portal back to Equestria. Small comedic keep-away later, Sunset gets the crown and places it on her head where she transforms into a She-demon. Her first act as She-demon is to turn everyone into mind-slaves and take over Equestria. In the normal twist of events Twilight and Friends use the Magic of Friendship to defeat Sunset changing everything, mostly, back to normal.
Step Three: Who was effected by the 'Incident.'
Starlight: Starlight's actions led to a small town, Our Town made by her and her brainwashed "friends," to be created, there she brainwashed ponies due to a cruel judgement based on hatred. This all lasted for years, as it wasn't just a brand new town when Twilight showed up. Oh, and the Mane Six... I guess.
Sunset: Sunset's actions went and turned an entire school into mindless mind-slaves, except the Eco-kid's they looked the same, she also lied and manipulated them(Everyone not just the Eco-kid's.) for about three years. Oh, and Twilight... I guess.
Step Four: Forgiveness.
Starlight: Starlight escaping for several months(My guess at the time between the beginning and end of season 5.) giving the town amble time to forgive her, it also helped that she had regretted her actions and begged(Asked? Just no.) for forgiveness for what she did to them. Then the Mane Six, where only really Twilight and Spike(I almost forgot Spike!) had been treated to her "revenge." Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six forgave her, basically immediately and more technically after a suspenseful(For Starlight) talk.
Sunset: Sunset was forgiven immediately after what she did by the Mane Six. The next time we see her(In the second Movie.) she hasn't been entirely forgiven by the rest of the school. Why is that? I believe that only a week to a couple months has passed since the last(First!) time we got to see her. Which is important as that means that the time left for the forgiveness to be fully developed hasn't fully bloomed... so to speak. Also she regretted her actions.
This took a little longer to write than I thought it would, and I found I am far more sleepy than I originally thought. Also the reason I wrote this was because of a comment I saw before that stated that they were two entirely different cases. I wanted to see if that is true, so here is what I found.
I'd like to hear from all of you,
Desh.
