Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children — My Thoughts · 6:15pm Oct 6th, 2016

It was... good.

That twilight zone between 'just' good and excellent, three and a half stars out of five if you so will... but good nonetheless.

The critics aren't wrong, though. Felt quite a lot as if somebody (Burton, cough) thought taking a bunch of E-list X-Men and dress them all up in WW2 period clothes was 'the best idea, evar~

If the above sound like your thing, it probably is and you should go see it, but the rest of you can probably give this one a pass until the DVD bin/Netflix. It's really one of those films whose premise is the main attraction, and all else comes second.

Small thing, though that I wish to add. Samuel Jackson was on fire in this movie, and as the bad-guy at that. Wasn't expecting to see that after how many hero roles he's been in lately, but Baron was that strange mix of funny, charming, intimidating, creepy and clever that really sticks with you. Really hope he and Burton work together again in the future, because their styles jelled exceptionally well.
