Legend of Everfree: My Thoughts (Warning: Spoilers) · 1:04am Sep 30th, 2016
I went into this movie wanting to see a couple of things out of it. For one, I wanted to see them go deeper into the whole idea of both Twilights meeting as humans, what that meant for Earth, and maybe have a human (*cough* Sunset *cough*). Second, I wanted to see Sunset play an equally integral role with the Human Mane 6 (yes, that includes Sci-Twi now). What I got was by no means lacking. In fact, the film greatly exceeded my expectations! I was incredibly pleased with what I got. Let me talk about a few specific things that I loved about the movie.
1)The looming presence of Midnight Sparkle.
I loved this little element because it served as a great opener as well as an interesting driving force for the plot. It made me wonder if Sunset had been going through the same dilemma after she first transformed. Speaking of which.....
2)Sunset's dynamic with Twilight.
The friendship that was shared between Sunset and Twilight during this movie was simply golden. This is a character relationship that had been giftwrapped in a sparkly red bow and presented to the filmmakers on a silver platter ever since Twilight changed back to herself in the last movie.
3)Gaia Everfree's villain song.
Sweet mother of fucking Celestia. This is a villain song that is undoubtedly on par with This Day Aria. The instrumental includes a full, giant orchestra, and it shows through the entire sequence just how far the animation at DHX has come. And on that.....
4)The animation.
DHX has come a looooooong way since the early days of the show. This is not only incredibly apparent in the movie, but has anyone else noticed how dynamic the expressions in the show have gotten? For example:
Yeah. It's come a long way, alright. My favorite part of this movie animation-wise would have to be everyone's ponyfication in the climax. I was watching the movie on my phone at 11:30pm the first time and I had to restrain myself from squeeing when I saw all of that.
So, those are my thoughts on Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree. Any negative comments I have are really just nitpicks and don't really need to be stated. I'll see you all soon with another installation of New Beginnings as well as (maybe) a new comedic one-shot.
*gets up from chair*
*goes back*
What? Oh, do you want to know what I thought about all of the episodes I missed? Okay fine. LIGHTNING ROUND!
Viva Las Pegasus - Yay, Las Pegasus is a thing! This is actually a really fun setting. I've only been to Las Vegas once before, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of everything. But screw that, Flim and Flam came back. AND THEY GOT A SUPPORTIVE ROLE! AND APPLEJACK WAS THERE TO SEE IT!! *dies*
Every Little Thing She Does -
That is all.
