Legend Of The Everfree (Spoilers. Duh) · 12:14pm Sep 26th, 2016
I got stuck while writing my new story. So instead of trying to complete it, I decided to watch Legend of the Everfree and do a review type thing.
First things first. (Please excuse this outburst)
OHMIGOD.OHMIGODOHMIGODOHMIGOD.TIMBERLIGHT IS CANON. FLASHIMMER IS CLOSE TO CANON. S.S.SUNLIGHT IS GOING DOWN! I REPEAT: SUNLIGHT IS GOING DOWN!! MY HOPES AND DREAMS HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BY THE FOUL DEMONS KNOWN AS HASBRO AND DHX.CURSE YOU!!! I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!!!!!!
Ahem. Now that's out of the way, lets get on with the actual review.
Legend of the Everfree was pretty entertaining. Not on par with Rainbow Rocks or Friendship games but definitely better than Equestria Girls. As in my outburst earlier, the fact that I'm a hardcore SunLight Shipper probably also hurt the movie's chances. The songs were enjoyable though. Legend You Were Meant To Be was definitely the best. For Everfree was good, but my favorite villain song will stay Under Our Spell.
The magical geodes are clearly the Elements of Harmony, but that begs the question. What is Sunset's Element? I mean she can't be the Element of Magic because of Sci-Twi. Maybe the Element of Redemption? Forgiveness? Who knows. (The answers DHX knows.)
The interactions between Spike and Sunset were awesome though. My two favorite character interacting like pals? Heck yeah! Now we just need to get Discord in there somehow. The running gag with the dock was pretty funny and the bit where Sunset looks into Pinkie Pie's brain? Hilarious.
Overall, this movie was cool, not amazing but enjoyable. While certain parts where cringey, the humour was enjoyable. I give it a solid 6/10. Would've been a 7 but the TimberLight was a bit too much for me.

P.S Am I the only one who thought Timberwolf when Timber Spruce was introduced? Just me? Ok.
I had the thought about Timberwolves too, if that helps. I was worried about Flashimmer during the scene in question, but not after how they left it; I think it's about time they started over as friends but I don't think it was implying that more would come of it. Hasbro would be pretty silly to pair up the most popular character in the EG franchise with the least, right?
4243064 Didn't stop them from doing it in Rainbow Rocks though.
4244527 Sorry, I'm confused; did Sunset and Flash even have a conversation together in Rainbow Rocks?
4244647 No. Sorry. That's not what I meant. I was replying to the bit about shipping a popular character with someone totally random. Like Twilight and Flash in RR.
4244702 Ah right, I see - I think they tried to give Twilight a romance plot in the first EG film because that's a firm staple of the High School Movie genre, and it's something unexplored in the Ponyville-based series. Perhaps something that'd be easier to relate to when she's human. It didn't work out, and the fandom hated it, so they backed off for the second film - but given how present it was in the first, wouldn't it have been a bit weird if they dropped the thread entirely from Rainbow Rocks, with no explanation? I think they shut it down as far as they reasonably could, giving them minimal screentime, even having Flash snap at Twilight when angry, and generally having him be more focused on his band than on her. What would you have done in their position?
4244717 I see your point, and I agree that dropping Flash completely would leave a big plot hole in the story line. But there was no reason for the staff to not give us a single proper reason why Twilight fell for Flash.
