Some 'Slightly' Good News · 1:40am Sep 25th, 2016
Due to a situation that I talked about in my last blog, my mom and I might be homeless in seven days.
Fortunately, we were able to get $500.00 from some local agencies which work with people from displaced homes and those who escaped abusive household (we fit both categories and probably more) so we were awarded some one time grants. This does help us out a bit, but we still need an extra $400.00 to cover the rest of the rent and utilities.
My mom is still looking for a disability representative for court so we might also have the months of November and December to worry about as well. But for now we are just focusing on trying to get through this month.
We have seven days to get the rest of the money we need. And we are just hoping that we can get the extra $400.00 so we won't be homeless. I am trying to look on the bright side and continuing to seek out resources that can help our unique situation.

4225597 You're welcome, though you'll have to wait till monday. They are a government owned company and they are not open on weekends. Also go as early as you can, sometimes the wait can take all day. And paper work could take all week just to get done right.
My mother works for the one here in Oklahoma, so I know how bad it can be.
4225613 Do you mean the place that gives you food stamps and such? Because my mom and I were not able to get food stamps or financial help from the government agency we went to (I think it was The Department of Economic Security or something). But if this is a different place, we will definitely check it out on Monday.

But I'm just trying not to let it bother me too much. We really have no where to go as we left an abusive family and we don't have any close friends where we live. But we are trying to think of every solution we can.

4225622 They do have applications for food stamps, but they are somewhat a different group. As they mostly deal with abuse on all levels, mental, physical, emotional. For everyone kids, teens, adults, elderly.
So I'm sure they should be able to help you and your mother out. It would also do both of you some good to locate places that give out free food on a bi-weekly basis.
