I swear, I love these two. They're gonna drive me fucking mad.
After the break: some convo about my most recent fic, some plugs, and a scene.
The Nightmare I Need started in January as a simple image in my head: Midnight Sparkle and Daydream Shimmer sharing a kiss while they floated through some void somewhere. Trying to figure out a path to that point led to the first draft of Nightmare, submitted to the Writeoff Association in January. From there, I took a suggestion made by FanOfMostEverything—who made a joke about the tantabus coming to the human world and becoming SciTwi's pet—and decided to throw Princess Luna's favorite monster into the mix.
As of this writing, Nightmare is about to fall out of the featured box. I wish it could have stayed in longer, but loads of good fics released this week, along with getting a sorta crappy post time on EqD conspired against me. I've been feeling pretty down about my place on this site lately—I'm not sure that my fics have any lasting impression on people, or that anyone really cares about them—but it was cool to get some nice comments today. I really do appreciate you guys. Just been depressed about damn ponewords. I meant it in my RCL interview when I said I related to SciTwi more than any other character.

I don't actually know what I'm gonna be writing next. I'm currently finishing up a commission (the last one I'm taking for a long, long time), and there is a fic I have sorta half-written that I'd like to get done, but not much about it really interests me anymore. I really just want something that a lot of people will like. Comedy, maybe? If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to make them.
I head to England in about 20 hours. Maybe Stonehenge will inspire me (Maud Pie Marries Stonehenge???).
As I mentioned, a bunch of good fics got released today! It's fitting that Best Pony Day would make the best stories. In particular, I'd like to take a moment to plug two in particular.
First off, Oroboro has been dominating the Featured Box—and, in fact, this particular fic just hit the top—but in case you haven't seen it, go check out his latest fic, Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer Get Trapped in an Elevator.
In the darkness of a malfunctioning elevator, there's little else to do but lay your heart bare.
Secondly, the lovely and indomitable "The" Albinocorn has finally released their long-awaited Sunset/Pony!Twilight fic, Anamnesis! I know that Albino has been feeling a bit down about the reception the fic got, so go over and show it some love!
Sunset Shimmer and Princess Twilight Sparkle have both been plagued by odd dreams. Romantic escapades and tender moments between ponies they don't recognize that all end in tragedy.
Together, they investigate this phenomena, aware of the growing tug their hearts have for one another. The answers they find, however, may threaten to tear them apart.

The comic itself is just three quick panels of Twilight sleeping on the couch and Sunset joining her to snuggle. About 99% of that ficlet was flash fiction, written on the spot.
