Forever ago I made mention of a story of mine by the name of Sunshine and Rainbows. It was a story where Rainbow Dash had been hiding that she was the Runaway Daughter of Celestia. Out of respect for her Daughter's wish to live her own life, Celestia stayed out of Rainbow's life to the best of her ability until certain events forced the truth out into the open. It very quickly became my biggest story, hitting the featured page a few times as well.
You know how people will put that "Oh my gosh thank you so much for the Feature!" on the stories that get featured? I did that. I was just so excited, it meant so much to me that so many people enjoyed something I liked so much that it got pushed to the front page.
And then it started. People complained "This story didn't deserve to be featured" "What kind of prick boasts about that?" "Oh wow great for you, don't be such a dick about being featured" Not quite verbatim, but rather close to many comments I received. I put the story on hold for a while. I was dealing with a lot of stress in life and didn't want my hobby that I use to maintain my sanity to further that stress.
Eventually i came back to it. I took a risk and wrote in some things I thought people would really like, making two stories I was working on cross paths in a way I thought rather clever and funny. No one else thought so. The hate was strong with the community. People stalked my youtube just to downvote and bash me, my email flooded with hate and my comments blew up with even more hate.
I left the site for a while. A copy paste apology was what drew my attention back to fimfic, and, against my better judgement, I returned. But I never touched that story again.
Fast Forward just a little. I'm on DeviantArt and I come across some AMAZING art but a fantastic Artist. Smilingdogz. The ideas start flooding instantly and I got straight to work. It wasn't until the artist gave me the go ahead that Discovering Friendship became a thing. It is easily the biggest thing I have ever written. I can't even begin to tell you how much effort I've put into this story.
I've spent hours on research across the net to ensure all the facts are right, that nothing is out of place, that my psycho-semantics make sense. People request a lot of things when they see a story like this, they get excited over the little details, the quick twist, the long drawn out twist, the soft reveal, the inner struggle one feels but never shows behind the mask they wear each and every day for what they believe to be the benefit of others, not wanting to weigh them down with their own troubles.
And so I juggle these things about. i work as a QA at chili's though maybe not for much longer if rumors prove true. My job entails having no less than 8 people constantly pissed off at me, cussing me out, yelling at me, and demanding I make their lives easier over everyone elses. It is a very stress filled environment. I actually had to go to the hospital the other day because I collapsed from lack of sleep, overexertion, and a panic attack.
Now add on the stress of me possibly losing my job, again. I won't be able to afford my apartment, so I'll be homeless, again. Quite a lot of stress. Now, every Saturday and Sunday I pull a double. I go in at 12 noon, I get home around 12 Midnight and have to go back at 12 noon to work until 12 midnight. That Friday i go in at 5:30 PM and get off around 11:00-11:30PM. I go home, try to sleep, stress and insomnia make it impossible, I go back to work on no sleep and deal with all that stress piling on my back, and repeat the cycle.
But I still take the time out of my day to try and relax and work on the next chapters of my stories. I force myself to make time for friends rather than sleep, making sure people get to see me and I get to see them. it makes them happy, put a smile on their faces. I can't ruin that for them by telling them "I'm super stressed, I can't sleep, I'm falling apart at the seams."
So I don't tell them. I bottle it up and deal with it like I always have since I was a kid. Now, Discovering Friendship just finished its Discord Arc, and forever ago it was revealed that Nyx would be a part of this story. Now, how would one go about adding an entire universe to another? It isn't exactly easy, I spent weeks trying to piece it together in my own way, with permission from Penstroke of course. But no matter which way I went about it, it just didn't make sense, it couldn't be explained or written away as anything other than bullshit incarnate.
So the only way to make Nyx a part of the story was to use the Ritual. But I refused to simply copy-paste-edit from Past Sins. I've actually made it a point to not reread the story or to even rewatch any MLP episodes while writing Discovering Friendship. The first two chapters I wrote as rewrites of the beginning of MLP? Done from memory. I wanted this story to be something more, to add onto this world we've all been captured by.
But I knew it was too good to be true. That there would be those people that would find reason to drag out the hate once more. And lo and behold.
It all begins with one. Just one, from here it is only going to get worse. The hate will flood over to a boiling point and the story will die. I've seen it happen so many times.
So at this point I am putting FimFic on the back burner. I refuse to kill myself from stress.

That said, Discovering Friendship definitely doesn't deserve to be hated. I love the story you're building with it.
I have to say that due to what the guy said and all the hate going on that I have one thing to say; This story doesn't deserve the hate, it's a fantastic story that just gets's better after every other chapter, every time I see a new chapter get posted I get so excited to read it, so much so that I wish I can do the same with my stories.
I understand that you are having troubles with your life and work and I do hope you'll get everything on track and coming up aces or something. Just know that those of us that enjoy your stories will understand and will wait until the return of it.
You'll always get those types of people in life. The bitchers. The complainers. The people with a stick shoved so far up their own arse they can taste the shit on their tongue. They will take literally any reason to complain, to annoy and demean a persons confidence just to give themselves a shred of satisfaction and self-worth.
Honestly? Your writing is friggin superb and deserves whatever positive attention it gets. Unfortunately that attention attracts the trolls and the wannabe critics who's only idea of feedback is to slander a persons hardwork in some odd sense of 'helping'.
As for your current life stress, I think some time away from this wretched place could do you some good. Focus on the worrying aspects of your life and try and get them sorted, before you even think about writing anything for the self entitled dickwads on this site. Not saying everyone here is, just the small few that like to think that they own the internet and have a monopoly over what an author can and can't do.

Dude, you've done an amazing job with the story so far, and as for those who just want to ruin your story, pay them no mind.
I loved that story, to bad it was cancelled. And I might be silly to ask this, but: what does that story has to do with the author of those pics (those are awesome) and with this story?
Please don't be offend, My attention is divided right now. And on the cellphone, so I can revisit the pictures to get the whole story.
