In case anyone missed the sequel to "She's Awful" · 3:07pm Sep 20th, 2016
I apologize to my followers and everyone who's been already aware of the sequel to "She's Awful" for a redundant blog post, but I figured there oughta be at least a small number of people who read the first story, added it to some sort of tracking/favorite bookshelf (which, if I understand correctly, makes you receive notifications of any blog posts for that story), but didn't follow me and didn't notice the sequel when it came out or any of the times it updated.
Personally I sometimes just count on sequels to stories that I like hitting the feature box (provided I found the original through it) instead of following their authors. Since "Infected With Your Magic" didn't get featured (unlike the original), it's easy for me to imagine somebody who would've liked to read it simply not knowing it exists.
Also, I've seen people make blog posts when sequels to their stories get released, probably for this same reason. I really should've thought of it sooner! But hey, this is my first ever sequel, and better late than never, right? Every view and comment counts!
Thanks for reading, and I'm off to organize ideas for the next story.
See, Im always a bit confused as of why not that many people decided to read IWYM.. Tbh last night I had been drawing Cinch that when it was finished, I've been meaning to link to the story, you know, like a signal boosts... But you hit the epilogue first, and my tablet been acting out so I didnt safe it..
4219300 I think it may be a combination of random small factors. A slightly less enticing premise, the fact that it's a sequel to something else, initially a worse-looking cover art (when scaled down), longer name, bad timing of release, all sorts of things. When the first chapter was published it reached the "popular stories" panel just like She's Awful did, and who knows, maybe it was a few dozen views away from being featured. Though I think She's Awful getting featured was a bit of a glitch: it originally appeared in the second to last slot of the feature box when the second chapter was released a day after the first, which I believe gave it the push it needed for a PROPER feature in the above slots... and the three bottom slots are supposed to be reserved for already popular stories that get an update after enough time, so it makes no sense how it even got there.
Anyway, if you draw Cinch at some point and link to my story it would be most appreciated of course Never too late for a signal boost!
Thanks. I wasn't aware there was a sequel and, generally speaking, I simply don't have time to deal with updates beyond those for the stories I read, so I never subscribe directly to anyone.
(They really need to fix the "A sequel was posted for X" notifications that used to be sent to people following the original story when you tagged something as a sequel to something else.)

Yeah, that would definitely be useful. However, I actually think most people do simply make blog posts with that announcement. Of course, automating that (and accounting for people like me who don't immediately think to do that) would be useful.

The key being that word "most". On multiple occasions, I've discovered a sequel to something I was following purely by accident.
