I was just informed that my dear friend died · 6:00am Sep 11th, 2016
We only exchanged 17k words via PMs in the past month since we first met online, but we’ve grown very close in that time. We told each other secrets that we’ve never told anyone else before. If there are soulmates out there, she surely was mine.
Life had never been easy for her since the start. When she was 10 years old, her father just left her to fend for herself in the country in the middle of nowhere. She had to survive on mushrooms for 2 weeks. And that wasn’t even the worst experience in her life.
She was diagnosed with cancer soon after we began talking. Doctors gave her 30% chance of survival.
Despite all the hardships, she stayed positive, always ready to contribute. Even in the midst of chemotherapy when she was throwing up 20 times a day, she stayed a cheerful person that she was.
The hope within her never died. She even talked about visiting me when she’d get better, despite us being countries apart.
I was informed that she passed away in her sleep due to pulmonary embolism by the staff of the hospital she was stationed at. They had been instructed by her to contact me if anything were to happen to her. She had them tell me to think of her whenever I eat apples (an inside joke reference).
There is no particular reason for this blog. I just wanted to honor her in some way.
RIP, My dear friend. You will be missed.

She was a fellow user on another site. One of the most prolific readers I've ever seen. We met when she commented on one of my stories. She said that I should be a professional writer and that whenever she gets too disappointed by other stories that are posted, she rereads one of my stories to keep her hopes up.

Unfortunately, I don't subscribe to your flowers and sunshine view of the world and beyond. I don't look at the world through rainbow glasses. It makes her death even more profound in my eyes which in turn makes me value the moments I shared with her even more.

She was a bit hesitant in telling me her condition at first because she was afraid I'd leave her. I wouldn't even dream of doing something like that.
