For all my Spanish-speaking readers:

Mattgenesis has begun the process of translating Silver Glow's Journal into Spanish.

He's crazy, of course. Currently, the word count is 368k and change, which puts us past The Brothers Karamazov and edging into Gone With the Wind territory (or if you prefer, the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy).

Source unknown

And since I assume most of my readers know how to read a calendar, we're just a little past halfway done.

. . . Well, he's mad; I'm mad; we're all mad here.

So why not support him in his madness? If you know Spanish or want a really fun way to learn, why not read about ponies in Spanish?

After all, Spanish horses are totally a thing.

Who would have thought a diary would turn into such a doorstopper?

It's certainly the last thing I'd expect.

At least he doesn't have to translate Elvish...

When I started the project, I was expecting chapters to be under a thousand words.

I really ought to know myself better.

Yet :trollestia:

4199586 because most people read only their own diaries ? or just when the write into it ? i have no clue.

The Lord of the Rings is a single book, not a trilogy. It was only broken up into 3 volumes due to postwar paper shortages.

TBH, each volume is broken up into sections, so it can be said there's actually 6 books.

Also, In-Universe the Red Book of Westmarch includes There and Back Again (Bilbo's memoir of the events of The Hobbit), Translations from The Elvish (Bilbo's translation of The Silmarillion and related tales that he wrote while retired in Rivendell), and Merry Brandybuck's manuscripts on Pipeweed and Hobbit Genealogies and Chronologies.

That's an unconventional way to learn a new language. I'll have to pass though, I only have a week before school starts and I pretty much won't have any free time after that. Plus I'm already learning another language and don't feel like doubling up

I was thinking 'that's quite short' - then I realised that Kudz has become my benchmark, and it's really not very short at all. :)

I was proud of myself for passing the million word mark (for all stories). Kudz shattered that barrier a long time ago, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him hit the ten million word mark.

Hmm, I'm a spanish native speaker but I'm not a big fan of traductions. And specially with MLP.
Ponies are so associated to english to me that things like "ponis", "unicornios", "pegasos" or "potrilla" (filly) seems really weird. Luckily in Latin America at least they use to keep the original english names for most characters and other specific words like cutie mark, (in Spain instead they call them "Marcas de Belleza"... ).

They also did some terrible translations like changelings to "simuladores" ( :pinkiesick: ) and earth pony to "poni terrestre" which sounds horrible because the most common use for "terrestre" it's to distinguish something from the planet Earth from something alien. So, it sounds like they are the only ponies not from outer space. :rainbowlaugh:
I’m gonna check if I can help with something though.

EDIT: Just in case, with the horrible translation I refer to the official translations, not the work of Mattgenesis. I don’t have checked his work yet.

I like how that means "The Diary of Silver Glow," technically. Taking Spanish last year was so worth it.

we're all mad here.

All the best people are... :pinkiecrazy:

Good thing I managed to follow all the way then!
That's one heck of an archive binge! :pinkiegasp:

*Sees Twilight Sparkle Calendar* Uh, not ba- *looks closer at the top left hand corner* *spit takes* What!? When the hell did my work support MLP enough to put their logo on it? I never knew American Airlines had anything to do with MLP much less enough to slap our logo on official merchandise or that United did either.

4199758 The guy across the hall from me at work calls his wife and lttle daughter after lunch every day like clockwork, I can set my nonexistent watch by "Hola, mi amore..." I don't understand Spanish, so it's mostly a blur until the other day, I heard spanishspanishRainbow Dash, spanishspanishApplejack, spanishspanishTwilight Sparkle. Apparently his daughter was quizzing him on pony names.

I will hold you to this.
