    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

I know, I know... I have gotten behind, and I now owe my readers Afterthoughts for both "Dungeons and Discords" and "Buckball Season". I will get those out. I'm just procrastibusy. That's a word, right? :pinkiecrazy:

This last week was insane at work, so the time I would have normally spent working on the blog (or, for that matter, eating lunch) was instead devoted to bonus workload. The time that I've had off that wasn't spent on other obligations was mostly spent catching up on sleep and playing the new Deus Ex game. (I'm still not very far in, but I've done all the side missions available in the daytime Prague phase of the game and am approaching done with the main quest in that phase.)

A few random notes about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:

I really liked how the different merchants will have specialties, not just for what they sell but for how much they will pay you for your scavenged goods. The dealer just outside my apartment will buy drugs and booze for significantly more than the other two merchants I have access to, for example. But to sell off guns, I really want to go to the gun runner's apartment in the upper corner of Prague.

I like the themes that they are playing around with. And I especially like some of the subtler touches. The "naturals" signs are green while the "augs" signs are red, the color scheme alone invoking the sense that one is good and the other bad. The "aug" side of a metro station may have grubbier floors because the janitorial staff discriminates against them... but since people are people, and will make just as much of a mess regardless of their categorization, overflowing garbage cans and general refuse are still the primary decor on both sides.

There are so many wonderful little notes. Like finding the apartment that belonged to the mother and child in the post-tutorial cinematic. Or the irony that the man plotting revenge against the bank that screwed him was stuck living in an apartment with a large advertisement for the bank right above him. Or the nice touch that your boss was in a homosexual marriage.

On that note, I am happy to announce...

Remember that wonderful couple I mentioned back in Mid-August News who had met through the Fallout: Equestria community and were now engaged?

The wedding is tomorrow!

 (Congratulations, you two!)

So the rest of you will all have to wait a little longer. To tide you over, here is some slightly dated news that I think you might enjoy.

A couple weeks ago, a fan going by the moniker SelfProclaimed made a Respect Thread for Littlepip on the Respect Thread's reddit. The thread was honored a few days later as RT of the week. Now I honestly hadn't heard of that subreddit before, but I thought that was pretty cool.

For all those who have asked about Fallout 4: Nuka World: no, I haven't played it yet. (I'm a bit deep into my black & gold cybertech distraction.) But I am aware that there is a raider named Red Eye in it.

And yes, I do believe it is a reference. As I have said elsewhere, if it was just the name Red Eye, then I would believe it was a coincidence. But a character A) named Red Eye who B) broadcasts messages from C) an amusement park... that's too many points of similarity to disregard. Sure, that doesn't prove conclusively that it is a reference, but especially considering the other references the game has had to MLP and even Fallout: Equestria, it is extremely likely.

And absolutely awesome! :pinkiegasp: :rainbowdetermined2:

And finally, I leave you with something more meaningful and insightful, although not from me. In several past blogs, I have discussed the nature and value of criticism, and how to differentiate good critics from bad ones. Most recently, in my Afterthoughts blog for the episode "Spice Up Your Life". Well, in the last few weeks, another reviewer who has posted a video on the subject that I think is worth listening to:

Silver Quill vs Praiser Pan

I agree with you on the RedEye thing, that can't be a coincidence.

4193864 Same. I wonder if Todd Howard has read Fallout: Equestria?

I like to think that he has.

What other refrences to FoE are there?.

4193906 and what if Todd Howard actually really liked the story, you can always hope:twilightblush:

Can someone clear this up for me. Was Littlepip pip-buck on her right foreleg or her left?:trixieshiftright:

4193864 Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't bet money on it, but, with the other references to FoE in the game, it's totally possible.

Also, Nuka World is fine.

Being able to be a raider, to have a “bad” story arch, and adding more “delirious” and comical locations/weapons to the game, I would say that they tried to appeal to those fans that complained that F4 was too different to the classical fallouts.
As personally, I’m mostly a fan of the “settlement” part, and my characters it’s mostly “good”, I didn’t found it so interesting. Being their last official dlc I was hoping that they could give us some last final settlement sugar to work with, but the new options are pretty limited.

Also, though it do adds a lot of playable space, as you can see in any of the maps that are circulating in the web, most of the interesting stuff is very close, and in a relatively small area, and the rest of the map is a giant barren wasteland with little to nothing to do. I think that in comparison, Far Harbor provided a much more integrated and interesting map.

And, if they tried to take in consideration the critics that said that in F4 you couldn’t be “bad”, and your plot “choices” were too limited, then with Nuka they failed in the opposite direction. You have to be a “ruthless raider” if you want to take advantage of that DLC. There is no chance of “reforming” the raiders or changing their way of live, If you want to be a good guy, you can have a mission that let you wipe out all the raiders, but then you pretty much don’t have anymore to do in the whole place.

I didn’t get to play a lot with it, but the dynamics of conquering settlements, and then intimidate other settlements for tribute, sounds kind of neat thoug. Maybe later I will create a save in which my character goes full psychopath and does that.

4193986 That would be awesome.

4193989 I had always assumed it was on her left.

Given there is a whole building with a ton of MLP references in it. Yeah I can totally buy that is a reference.

4193975 FoE none I've seen, there are a bunch of MLP references in the Giddyup Buttercup HQ (A company that makes robotic ponies for little girls) Memos about making a special "Princess" version of the toy, or maybe Unicorn and Pegasus versions. One guy noting how he's running behind schedule and the CLOCK! IS! TICKING!, or lamenting how he ended up spending his day sitting in a room full of pink ponies watching paint dry.

I thought RedEye was a reference at first, but not enough fell in to place other than the name. Didn't think about the radio and park parallels.

He is fun to listen to, but he seems to suffer from a lack of things to talk about.

I know, I know... I have gotten behind, and I now owe my readers Afterthoughts for both "Dungeons and Discords" and "Buckball Season".

First off, lets get this out of the way. You do not owe anyone here anything Kkat. Yes, we enjoy your work and ruminations, but real life comes first, and if your work has been that much of a strain, you should spend your time off resting and taking care of yourself then worrying about silly things like a bunch of fan boys on this site:fluttershysad:

That said, mazel tov to your friends, I wish them well

I think it [edit: its a reference]is based off of this.

Prague?
my country capital?
I mean i know this series tough I never played it but may be interesting to check out how well is this city fleshed out in proportions or metro system and so on
Also idea that you made it into game series that started this whole subculture is absolutely astonishing
Thanks to your story I tried old fallout games myself and plan even last three parts tough I hope it will be fine with Fallout 3 because I heard it has issues with windows 7 and above

4194818 Fallout 3 had a better atnosphere imo. Fallout NV had more memorable characters i feel. They are both games yo should try though

4194849
Like i said i definitely plan to but dont want to pay ton for a game and dlcs when there is chance that game would not work at all (from what i got from various forum comments)
sure there are some workarounds but they are unreliable so if you know for sure it will work on win 10 then Ill gladly buy it

I'm just procrastibusy. That's a word, right?

If it isn't, it needs to be. That and "nervouscited".

I really enjoyed that video from Silver Quill! :scootangel:

4194818 I play Fallout 3 on Windows 7, but the main issue I have is related to the game's incompatibility with multi-core processors post patch 1.4 (think that is the correct patch number), but there are ways around that. I can also confirm that the game has always had problems with crashes, even on xbox 360. In my opinion, Fallout 3 has the best story out of a selection of FO: New Vegas, FO3, and FO4, and as a fan of the series, I hope you won't skip it.

4219727
Yes incompatibility with multicore processor but that is the thing
If you are a gamer, and you dont need to aim exactly for absolute new games, you have multicore computer or laptop because it is standart thing
I saved several ideas and advices from forums and Ill try them out in case I will get that game. Hopefully one of them will work

>> LeprechaunPoni I can attest to the game crashing on Xbox 360. I've been playing it for a little over a week now... er less sorry, and one of the main problems is that it will go through lag spikes, that are exactly like freezing, also the fact that it periodically crashes. I believe that that is mainly a system problem or some sort of bug.:pinkiesad2:

>> Daralyn It is a great series. Multi-core processors are the standard build for desktops and laptops now-a-days, which almost makes it strange to use one without. But I don't wish to judge, and I also don't know to much about hardware to have any suggestions.:pinkiesick:
