That Nintendo Direct, though... [My Thoughts] · 6:04pm Sep 1st, 2016

I don't even know where to start with this one! I mean, holy shit! Looks like I won't be able to cover everything that happened in the direct due to it being so long, but I can and will point out three of my favorite moments from the stream.

So after Snorlax gives you nightmares behond comprehension, we learn that we got Z-moves all wrong. True, there'll be a Z-move for every type, but I don't think Nintendo said that there will be only ONE Z-move for every type. And now with Snorlax and even Alolan Raichu we know this for a fact. And I swear to god, if Thamill from TyranitarTube gets this fact wrong I will scream.

Moving on from that, we now have Alolan Rattata, the Dark/Normal-type that edgy youngster Joey owns. And yes, it has been confirmed that due to a Rattata population explosion Yungoos was introduced to Alola to deal with the problem. But in response to this, Rattata turned into the Dark-type to hide away nocturnally from the diurnal (meaning daytime walkers like us humans) Yungoos. It's all super-interesting and honestly makes the Pokedex a lot more fun! And I'm excited for Alolan Raticate; we all know it's coming. Why would they introduce an Alolan prevolution if they won't make an Alolan evolution?

And guys, enough of the Water-type Arcanine, alright? We already saw a normal Arcanine in some gameplay footage with a Pokeball symbol next to its name, meaning it was a wild battle. I'm not saying it won't happen since the footage of Arcanine could have been filmed inside some sort of safari (and the fact that the likelihood of finding a wild Arcanine is slim), but don't get your hopes up.

I never could get into the Dragon Quest franchise due to the nonavailability with me and the series. It was a shame too because I felt no ill will towards the series: I simply didn't have access to it. And because I'm a huge RPG nerd, you can see how this would be a slight issue. But now that I'm older and have a 3DS I can finally experience Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII, all drawn by the legendary Akira Toriyama, in a beautiful HD remastering!

If anyone out there can tell me a bit about the Dragon Quest series and how it works (like the mechanics and stuff) as well as which game to start on, I would really appreciate it. At long last I'll be able to experience the games, so let's make this first impression count!

Pikmin is a franchise very beloved to me. It was an important step in my road of video games, and I still have my original Pikmin games stored away in my game library. So imagine my utter surprise when I discovered there was going to be a 3DS side-scrolling Pikmin game! Yes, you heard right folks; a Pikmin game starring Olimar on the 3DS will be coming out next month as a sort of last hurrah for the 3DS before Nintendo moves onto another handheld something or another. Or maybe just the NX, who knows?

Obviously I'm getting this game due to my love of the franchise, but I just hope there's more than just the original three Pikmin types in the game. Having more than the originals could open up the possibility extraordinary puzzles and whatnot, but of course maybe with just the original three Pikmin, Nintendo could pull something off.

That's my thoughts on my three favorite things during the stream. Of course there were other things I liked such as that Mario Sports thing and that Ever Oasis game that's looking better by the day (because, y'know, I love desert levels and a game based solely in the desert turns me on), not to mention the 3DS Mario Maker game! But there was so much stuff to cover that I simply don't have the time or patience to talk about it all here.

That having been said, what was your favorite part of the stream? Comment down below!

Until then, this is SuperKamek signing off!

The direct was... good.
There was nothing that really stood out to me personally, although everything I predicted was in. Pokemon News were good (maybe Munchlax will get in my team); Mario Maker 3DS, Poochi&Yoshi and the sports game were interesting surprises (but I already have the WiiU versions so I probably only get the sports game [maybe]); and Ever Oasis looks better and better (I'm really interested now).
And the german stream breaking down halfway through definitely didn't help:ajsleepy:

Youngster Joey would be so proud.

Yeah, super excited for Ever Oasis! But of course that Pokemon news was the shit! And Z-move Snorlax kinda scares me...
Anyway, sorry about that stream for you. But hey; at least you were able to watch it later, right?

I want there to be a punk guy named Joey who has a Dark Rattata or Raticate. That would give me life. :pinkiehappy:

4185657
Yeah, luckily there was still the European stream (just without subtitles)
Only missed Streetpass, Tanks and a montage in which they skipped through Phoenix Wright, Sonic Boom and Shin Megami Tensei.

4185662 That would be awesome! :pinkiehappy:

If the 3DS truly is at the end of its lifespan, then I can't wait to see how Nintendo tops it. After all, Nintendo is the king of handhelds.

The 3DS sold like hotcakes, so no surprise there. :rainbowlaugh:

4185827 Of course it did. The 3DS is just a really high tech Gameboy. :scootangel:

Moody youngster Joey sends out Alolan Rattata

You defeated Moody youngster Joey

"Guess I'll just go home..."

I will say, it's quite interesting to see that pokemon go through that kind of change for survival

I don't think "Moody Youngster" will be a class in Pokemon, but by god I want that to happen so badly.
