KidatHeart5: In a world where harmony reigns supreme, a small band of reviewers tackles the latest episode of My Little Pony. This is…”LARPing Around”.

Missy: Or should we say “Ogres and Oubilettes”?;)

K5: I know! In the comic “Neigh Anything”, the words were kind of switched around. I have an idea. Maybe we could roll a die and pick out what to cover about “Dungeons and Discords” by what number comes up! CN12, would you like to roll first?

CN12: Sure. *shakes die and rolls it* 6!

K5: Well, looks like the main character is first! This is a highlight episode for our pal Discord! As pointed out by one person on Twitter, Discord has a sort of social discomfort. I also noticed the spirit of chaos has arrogance that hasn’t quite faded away yet. He also has new facial expressions, more character development, and more gags. Missy, what would you like to say about Discord?

Missy: Before I start on my opinion of Discord in this episode, should we get LARPing personas too? Just like Spike, Big Mac, and Discord did in the episode?

K5: Excellent point! I was thinking the same thing! I get to be a Mage named Quartz Flower! What are you going to be, CN12? Archer, Mage, or Rogue?

CN12: What does the Rogue do?

K5: I think it’s essentially what Big Mac is. He’s like a knight who is thought to have gone astray from his king. How about you, Missy?

Missy: Is there a Hobbit class? LOL!XD

K5: I don’t know. Maybe we’ll make an exception just this once.

Missy: Huzzah! Sorry, I don’t know much about Dungeons & Dragons and all their fancy smancy classes. Plus, I love the book “The Hobbit” so much and Biblo Baggins that a hobbit persona would be so cute:3 I’ll be Fuzzy Hooves the Hobbit Pony:)

K5: And so it shall be! CN12, have you created your persona yet? Maybe you can be a mermare or a fairy.

CN12: A mermare would be nice. How about Coral Pearl?

K5: Nice touch!

Missy: Haha lol, having a mermare persona around a mermare ponyXD I just love the irony of it all;)

K5: Shall we roll the die again? I go next! *shakes die and rolls it* 20! Let’s talk about the Guys Night Out.

Missy: *singing loudly* Guys Night! Guys Night! Talking about Guys Night!XD

K5: I’m glad the guys have their own thing. They even invited Discord just to be nice, which totally shocked him. Discord wants Guys Night to be fun. During the charade bit when Discord imitates Celestia, he reminds me of a Japanese geisha. The nightclub bit is supposed to be a nod to The Mask. CN12, want to say anything about Guys Night?

CN12: I absolutely loved how we have three of the guys starting to bond all that was missing was Shining Armor, heh, heh.

Missy: Oh geeze, Discord as a Japanese Geisha o-o

Well, that will haunt my nightmares at night 0-0 Anyway! You’re right kiddo, when Discord took everypony to the nightclub, I totally got the Mask movie vibes. Especially with Discord’ suit;) But we learned a new fun fact about him which shouldn’t have been obvious but had to be brought up: Discord loves jazz music:D

Oh man, I can imagine Discord taking Fluttershy to this swinging night club and dancing together kinda like in the Mask but only cuter and sweeter and wearing 1920’s outfits:3 Speaking of Fluttercord, oh CartoonNerd!:D You know what time it is?:D

CN12: *act crazy* Fluttercord! Fluttercord!

K5: Ah, ah, ah. Missy has to roll a 10 or higher to start the Fluttercord discussion. Missy, your turn.

Missy: *rolling the dice between her hooves, blowing on them, and then whispering* Oh c’mon, 10 or higher. 10 or higher. *Missy throws the dice with her eyes close, the dice on the ground seems to land on a 1 but then lands on 10 slowly* Wohoo! 10!:D Can I list all the Fluttercord moments in this episode to start off this discussion?:3

K5: Fire away. I’ll let you and CN12 take the lead.

Missy: Let’s start with just the entire beginning part of the episode:

● Discord gets excited when he sees Fluttershy packing up for a vacation, thinking it’s a vacation “just for the two of them”. Emphasis on “just the two of them”;) Flash back to Make New Friends but Keep Discord and how Discord wanted to hang out with Fluttershy solely at the gala at the beginning of the episode;) :P
● Then, Discord wants to take Fluttershy to not just any old vacation, but a nice one:3 To a nice beach:3 Oh lala;) Lol!
● Discord trying to cover up his disappointment over no Tuesday Tea and no Fluttercord vacation time;)
● The overall constructive argument between Discord and Fluttershy like a real married couple, helping each other to reach to an agreement but in the funniest way possible of courseXD
● Fluttershy trying to use reverse psychology on Discord/teasing him about Discord being afraid that Spike & Big Mac won’t like him, and that Fluttershy face to go with itXD She knows him too wellXD
● Discord groaning how Fluttershy is too good for reverse psychology
● Discord considers Fluttershy’s suggestion
● Discord turning himself miniature to fit into Fluttershy’s bag, and begs her to go with her, and she just simply smiles:3 DAWWWW!

● Discord still trying to prevent Fluttershy’s trip with a magical active volcano at the end of the train tracks, and Fluttershy gives him that “Seriously?” face XD

● And finally, we have the famous little nod between Fluttershy & Discord when Fluttershy enters back into the castle to see Discord having fun with Big Mac & Spike. Dawww, our babies don’t need words anymore:3 They can just nod and say everything!:3 XD Squee! Fluttershy is proud of her hubby making guy friends and Discord is thankful to Fluttershy for convincing him to hang out with Big Mac & Spike:3
Which was your favorite moment CN?:)

CN12: All of them! Because when i first saw the beginning of the episode i could hardly contain myself! That moment when they turned opposite, hilarious! The more we see this little interactions between them the more likely they end up in the future, i noticed you got a bit carried away with that whole hubby remark, lol! But it certainly does seem likely that’s what he’ll be to her!

Missy: Dang it, I couldn’t help!X0 If they’re going to argue like husband and wife in front of me, then I have no choice but to address them as such;) Lol! Oh, here’s a fun question for all: What personas would Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack take in this “Ogres and Oubillets” universe?

K5: I think Twilight would definitely be a Mage. Rarity would probably be an Archer, although she’s more Fairy than Archer. Applejack’s definitely an Archer. Fluttershy, it’s hard with her.

CN12: Yeah, it really is. At least Pinkie would be a mage and Rainbow a rogue.

Missy: For Fluttershy, I was thinking more in terms of a “Lady of the Water” Mage type thing or some kind of Nature Mage. With Twilight being a traditional wizard/mage, Applejack as a warrior or dwarf fighter kind of thing, then Rarity as the Princess from Spiketopia but who can fight of course;)

K5: Those are excellent personas! I would like to mention the whole opposite dimension Discord and Fluttershy go to. In case no one caught it yet, it’s supposed to be a Stealth Pun for Discord’s negativity. Yes, folks. It’s the return of the TV Tropes! Okay, if I roll a 5 or lower, we’ll get on with the pros and cons. *rolls die and it lands on 17* Oh! Surprise, surprise. It landed on the LARP dimension number. To start off, it seems like Spike and Big Mac’s dreams have come true...before Discord shows up with his scary voice. During the battleground sequence, Discord reminds me of Q from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Points to John de Lancie!

Missy: I truly love how in the game alternate dimension, we had those cut outs of the pony skeletons from Jan Animations “Don’t Mine at Night”

K5: Talking about the sequence brings me to the Discord realization scene. In the beginning of the episode, Discord says that he’s amazing and Spike and Big Mac weren’t. When the guys tell him that he’s a weirdo and they only invited him to be nice, Discord’s ego deflates significantly. Actually, if his ego was a balloon, it would’ve popped instead. Discord comes close to crying again, but once again, his tears elude me! Arrgh! For once, can’t he shed tears as a genuine emotional display?! Well, if the two-parter’s any indication, I hope he cries in there. About the scene where Discord tries to apologize to the guys, it reminds me of when Squidward tried to apologize to SpongeBob in the episode “Fools in April”. I think Discord’s more used to apologizing to girls than to guys.

CN12: Now, Sis, it’s possible he could have cried once he left the room, after all the Lord of Chaos has an image to keep up.

K5: Just for once…

Missy: Oh, good point CN:D But yeah, hehe, Discord is definitely used to apologizing to girls than boys. More specifically, one girl;) *cough* Fluttershy! But let you ask this Kid, would you honestly want Discord to shed his first appearance of tears on this versus a future event that can be far more meaningful?

K5: That is true. I think the two-parter could be a very good place for him to cry. John de Lancie indicated that it would be a different type of story and Fluttershy could be coming along for the ride. Maybe Starlight will, too. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: This is an excellent Discord episode written by Nick Confalone. Although I’m more used to the emotional depths Jeremy Whitley of the MLP comics displays, Nick prods Discord’s insecurities and hubris. Spike gives a nice explanation to the “Ogres and Oubliettes” game. Some scenes are so entertaining! What say you, CN12?

CN12: Definitely the Fluttercord moments and the bonding among the three guys!

Missy: Really?! There’s another Discord episode this season too?!:D With him crying and Fluttershy is in it on the ride?! Sign me up! My pros for this episode, and for most of my review and feelings of this episode, are: 1) the humor, 2) the creativity and energy, 3) the Fluttercordness, 4) Discord’ experssion of his best qualities and his most vulnerable moments, and 5) the new broromance friendship between Discord, Spike, and Big Mac. Because of the combination between these five things combined made this episode the funniest episode and the most fun episode out of the entire season. I give it 10 hearts out of 10 <3 Which means it’s tied with “Times are a Changeling” in first place for my favorite episode of this season. While Times are a Changeling gave me the emotional episode I needed for this season, this episode gave me the MLP fun I needed for this season:)

K5: Cons: My only gripe is that Discord doesn’t cry, but I suppose it’s for a good reason. After all, I did say that a theme would be crying for important reasons.

CN12: You know, surprisingly, I don’t have any cons for this.

Missy: My only cons for this episode is the ending of the episode where we didn’t get to see the rest of the Mane Six joining in Discord’s & Spike’s & Big Mac’s game AND not enough Fluttercord XD Lol! Anyway, thank you guys so much for allowing me to play a little bit of “Ogres & Oubillets” with you and review this episode with you:) It was so much fun catching up with you guys:)

K5: No problem! I give this episode 10 out of 10, too!
