I'm well into Chapter Three of my fic (yay me) and I've just realized that I have a serious problem. An extremely serious problem, in fact, because this story is meant to include the Mane Six and that problem is this: I have no idea how to write Pinkie Pie. I don't understand the character at all and because I hate every second she's on the screen (silliness in any setting annoys the crap out of me), I have no use for her as a character. The easy way would be to provide a good reason for curly-mane insane Pinkie to be straight-mane serious Pinkimena for all the scenes I do with her but I can't imagine anything that I could pony up (pardon the pun) that wouldn't amount to a neon sign saying "I hate this character so I'm making her non-canon to be the character I want to write instead of the character she is". I'd love ideas here, thanksmuch in advance.
Meh. It's a necessary evil, I suppose. Just roll with it. Who knows, maybe she'll end up growing on you

Seeing as Pinkie Pie is both food obsessed and reality breaking you could always say she Ccidentaly flies her mouth shut with some sort of icing. Another idea is to simply keep her talking to a minimum, keeping her around in the background. Example;
“While Twilight and Dash discussed this, Pinkie took the chance to hop in the lake.”

As you went in Chapter 3, aftermath of the TER could well have affected Pinkie. I can see her settling down somewhat, and you portrayed that fairly well in chapter 3. She's always been a bit more observant than people give her credit for, and if you can avoid the 4th wall insanity, you'll do fine.
