    Arms and Armament

So, I was catching up on some blog posts this morning, and happened upon one which discussed the way objects can reflect characters, and happened to use their choices of weapons as an example. Which set me off down the track of contemplating what, in Equestria's earlier and rather rougher pieces of history, might our favorite protagonists arm themselves with should such warlike preparations be

    Color Coordination

Given the full-spectrum range of coat and mane colors among Equestrian ponies, can you imagine the trouble planners of any sort of public event that needs a seating chart must have? Not only do they have to take into account all the same considerations that we do, but Earthly event planners don't have to worry about accidentally creating eye-wateringly bad color combinations by accident.

    Military Controversy

Is the basic earth pony military unit infantry, or cavalry?

Please overthink as much as possible, then justify your answers.

I've been conlanging some more, and since some of the words this time are of Advancedverse relevance, thought I'd drop a pointer here.

Schizo Tech Explanations, #1 · 1:34pm Aug 18th, 2016

In today's explanation of some of the higher-end stuff seen in Equestria's Schizo Tech, specifically electronics...

Consider, ye all, just how much easier it is to build semiconductor-based devices when you can place a special order with your friendly local rock farmers to grow you some utterly flawless pre-doped monocrystalline silicon wafers to order, thus short-circuiting the inconvenient first stage of the manufacturing process and that tedious mucking about with Our Friend, Hydrofluoric Acid.

(In tomorrow's show, we explain how the wafers are etched by exquisitely careful watchmaker unicorns with OCPD... the small number of which is probably why there aren't a lot more electronic devices around.)

((Which, yes, does imply that around about the time someone figures out how to bypass the need for said ECWU/OCPD and thus enables mass production, the Pie family will need to build several new silos to keep all the bits in...))

Today in things I hadn't thought of!

Then again, it does make a lot of sense, that it does.

My only complaint is that I didn't think of that first. Other than that, having Your Friendly Neighborhood Rock Farmer do all that annoying pre-sorting without going through things like blast furnaces, heavy metal poisoning, and similar processing just makes so much sense.

And that's not their only trick, either. Leave a lump of iron with a skilled petriculturist and come back to see that it's become a rare-earth magnet. Or start with calcium oxide and end with a high-temperature superconductor.

Or feel free to insert your own materials-scientist's-fantasy here.
