YOU REMEMBER WHEN THE STEADFAST SKY WAS A THING THAT EXISTED?
No? Well fuck, I dont blame you. What’s it been, like, two years since i finished that thing? Yeesh. I should have posted more progress updates.
Anyway
I AM ALMOST DONE WITH THIS 300K MONSTER OF A REWRITE.
I’VE JUST GOT FOUR SCENES AND ONE FINALE TO WRITE, AND THEN I AM GODDAMN DONE. With the first draft. But after a couple rounds of editing I WILL BE LOOKING TO PUBLISH THIS NEW VERSION OF THE STORY
It will have the following:
1) A new, original setting, which sadly, is not completely about ponies. BUT IT DOES HAVE A TALKING DOG!!!!
2) The main three, modified and refined, with a new dorkbaby to hang around them sharing his perspective. Uh. Well technically five… or six people get perspective chapters. BUT THOSE DORKS UP THERE ARE MY MAIN FOUR.
3) (From left to right: Crusher, Violet, Melody, Brynth)
4) A greatly expanded plot with a somewhat darker tinge to it, delving into many of the same themes explored in Steadfast Original Flavor, while also exploring a few new ones.
5) Just look at this awesome blurb I wrote:

6) Oh god I’ve written 250k and they only just left the city for the first time what the fuck am I doing? XD
7) ONE OF THE CAST STAYED A PONY, YOU GUYS!!! ITS NOT COMPLETELY DEVOID OF PONIES!!!!!!
Alrighty, that’s the sum of that. Now once again, here is my blog. I havnt posted anything there in a while, but if you're interested in seeing if this madness bears fruit or not, its probably better to follow me there.

I literally finished reading Steadfast 2 days ago, so I remember it pretty well. :)

I'm pretty content with the story as I read it. The trios interactions were the highlights of the story for me, hopefully with more characters that doesn't dampen that.

Yes, i did draw the thing.
And also yes, the new story has a different flow and feel to it, thats very distinct from the original Steadfast Sky. kindve because the goals of the two stories are different. Original Steadfast was 'I like these characters, I like these ideas, I want to see them become reality' and I would trim most anything that didnt add to those goals. Nue Steadfast, I already knew the characters, and I wanted to explore the complexities of them, and the world I built, more in-depth and without the trappings of being a fanfiction.
They're very different stories at this point, and i would not be surprised if people preferred one or the other.
I look forward to seeing the finished product!
