Just For Fun: Miraculous Ladybug - The Akuma Blame Game · 2:32pm Aug 13th, 2016

Welcome to the AKUMA BLAME GAME!

This one's pretty straightforward: a running tally of who's to blame for each (known) Akumatized villain throughout Miraculous Ladybug. As season one has completed its run pretty much everywhere except the United States, this list will contain spoilers for those of you who haven't seen all of season one yet.

For now, this list covers all of season one. When season two premieres in 2017, the Akuma Blame Game will be a part of my regular episode recaps.

SEASON ONE

(Akumatized villains are listed in French episode order.)

Climatika (English: Stormy Weather)
Akumatized person: Aurore Beauréal
Akumatization caused by: In Aurore's case, primarily herself. Her own jealousy of Mireille Caquet's popularity was the trigger. Indirectly, Alec Cataldi for joking about the percentage of the vote by which she lost to Mireille.

The Bubbler
Akumatized person: Nino Lahiffe
Akumatization caused by: Gabriel Agreste. Gabriel's jerkass behavior towards him when he asked permission to throw a birthday party for Adrien led directly to his Akumatization.

The Impostor (English: Copycat)
Akumatized person: Théo Barbot
Akumatization caused by: Chat Noir. Technically, Théo's own possessive jealousy towards Ladybug was the cause, but Chat Noir's bragging about his (nonexistent) romantic relationship with Ladybug was the trigger.

Chronogirl (English: Timebreaker)
Akumatized person: Alix Kubdel
Akumatization caused by: This one's tricky. Half the class is actually to blame for this one, but the root fault lies with Alix herself for not being more responsible with her family heirloom watch. Even so, Chloé is most directly responsible for her callous treatment of another person's property (without that person's permission), and Alya shares at least a third of the blame for forgetting she had jean pockets when asked to hold onto Alix's watch for a few minutes.

Monsieur Pigeon
Akumatized person: Xavier Ramier
Akumatization caused by: Roger Raincomprix. Agent Roger chasing Ramier out of the park for feeding the pigeons aggravated his peculiar pigeon-obsessed personality to the point where he was susceptible to Hawk Moth's Akuma.

Lady Wifi
Akumatized person: Alya Césaire
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois. Chloé bullied Director Damocles into suspending Alya from school and shutting down the school blog over Alya taking a picture of the inside of her locker.

The Pharaoh
Akumatized person: Jalil Kubdel
Akumatization caused by: His own father. M. Kubdel berated Jalil for his obsession with old legends about ancient Egyptian rituals, which led to his Akumatization.

Rogercop
Akumatized person: Roger Raincomprix
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois and her father. Chloé's screeching about her missing bracelet started the whole mess. When Mayor Bourgeois ordered Roger to arrest Marinette for the theft without a shred of evidence and Roger refused to obey a completely illegal order, Mayor Bourgeois fired him on the spot, causing his Akumatization.

The Cartoonist (English name: Evillustrator)
Akumatized person: Nathaniel Kurtzberg
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois. She humiliated him in front of the entire class over the comics he was drawing during class where he was a superhero rescuing his crush Marinette from supervillains.

Heartbreaker (English name: Dark Cupid)
Akumatized person: Kim Chiến Lê
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois again. On Valentine's Day, he attempted to give her a present and confess his feelings to her. She berated him, then humiliated him by taking a picture of him covered in garbage and mass-sharing it to everyone, causing his Akumatization.

Horrificator
Akumatized person: Mylène Haprèle
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois again. Chloé bullied her about her fear getting the better of her while the class was shooting a student film, leaving her vulnerable to Hawk Moth.

The Black Knight (English name: Darkblade)
Akumatized person: Armand D'Argencourt
Akumatization caused by: Nadja Chamack and Mayor Bourgeois, albeit indirectly. Monsieur D'Argencourt already had a pretty big chip on his shoulder about losing the mayoral election to Mayor Bourgeois (by a landslide) when he felt he had an ancestral claim to the lordship of Paris; Nadja showing up to interview him in the middle of a fencing lesson when he was already angry tipped the scales. This is a rare case where the target of a villain's revenge really didn't do anything wrong (unless you count being an expert politician).

The Mime
Akumatized person: Fred Haprèle
Akumatization caused by: Fellow mime Chris, who deliberately screwed him out of his slot in a performance.

Kung Food
Akumatized person: Wang Cheng
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois. In an act of petty revenge against Marinette, Chloé decided to sabotage Marinette's great uncle in a televised cooking competition, utterly humiliating him.

The Gamer
Akumatized person: Max Kanté
Akumatization caused by: Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Marinette learned Adrien was auditioning for the gaming tournament to which their school would send two representatives, and decided to butt into the tryouts at the last second, thinking getting into the tournament with Adrien would be her ticket to spending some alone time with him. She ousted Max from the competition he'd spent an entire year looking forward to, leaving him open to Hawk Moth's Akuma.

Animan
Akumatized person: Otis
Akumatization caused by: Kim Chiến Lê. Kim mocking Otis' prized black panther enraged him, making him the perfect target for Hawk Moth.

Vanisher
Akumatized person: Sabrina Raincomprix
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois. Chloé giving Sabrina the cold shoulder when Sabrina embarrassed her in front of Jagged Stone led to Sabrina finally having enough of her BFF's shit and going Akuma.

Antibug
Akumatized person: Chloé Bourgeois
Akumatization caused by: Ladybug. During the Vanisher incident, Ladybug became increasingly annoyed with Chloé to the point of outright rejecting her genuine attempts to help, then badmouthed her behind her back to Chat Noir. Overhearing this, Chloé got angry at Ladybug and decided she wasn't worthy of her adoration, leading to her transformation into Antibug.

The Puppeteer
Akumatized person: Manon
Akumatization caused by: Manon's mother accusing her of stealing a puppet from Marinette and then taking it away from her.

Reflekta
Akumatized person: Juleka Couffaine
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois and Sabrina Raincomprix, who locked her in the bathroom during the class picture so Chloé could stand next to Adrien, which is where the photographer had placed Juleka. Since this was the latest in a long string of picture day disasters for Juleka and Chloé needlessly ruined what could have been her one chance to take a good school picture, Juleka snapped and became Akuma bait.

Guitar Villain
Akumatized person: Jagged Stone
Akumatization caused by: Rival "musician" XY and his own producer Bob Roth, though mostly XY for talking shit about him in a train wreck of a TV interview about his number one selling album.

Numéric (English name: Pixelator)
Akumatized person: Vincent Aza
Akumatization caused by: Jagged Stone, though he brought it on himself for being a creepy stalker in the first place.

Jackady (English name: Simonsayz)
Akumatized person: Simon Grimault
Akumatization caused by: Gabriel Agreste. Gabriel humiliated him on live television, causing his ejection from a challenge program.

Princess Fragrance
Akumatized person: Rose Lavillant
Akumatization caused by: Chloé Bourgeois. The usual Chloé bullying.

Volpina
Akumatized person: Lila Rossi
Akumatization caused by: Ladybug. Enraged by Lila trying to get close to Adrien by lying incessantly to build herself up, Marinette decided to confront Lila as Ladybug in front of Adrien and expose her lies. Ladybug's unnecessarily cruel exposure of Lila's lies drove Lila to the necessary depths of bitterness and hatred to become one of Hawk Moth's servants.
(Note: Lila remained bitter and resentful toward Ladybug even after being cleansed of the Akuma, leading Hawk Moth to hint that Lila could be useful to him again.)

Stoneheart
(Note: This is the very first Akumatized villain created by Hawk Moth.)
Akumatized person: Ivan Bruel
Akumatization caused by: Kim Chiến Lê (first time). The initial Akumatization was caused by Kim mocking Ivan for being unable to confess his feelings to Mylène. The second Akumatization was caused by a combination of his own sullenness, Chloé taunting him after the first incident, and Mylène running away from him in fright when he tried to, erm..."serenade" her.

Repeat Offender Count!
Chloé Bourgeois: 10 (including partial blame)
Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug: 3
Gabriel Agreste: 2
Mayor Bourgeois: 2 (including partial blame)
Nadja Charmak: 2 (including partial blame)
Kim Chiến Lê: 2

Thus we confirmed that Chloe is the worst human being in the entire Ladybug universe. No, seriously, even Hawk Moth seems to have a better explanation to his crimes than she ever did. I really hope she will SOMEHOW become a new main villain. Somehow.

4147476 She pretty much already IS the main villain of the series. :rainbowwild:

Well, season one seems to have finished in the States, as I´ve seen all the episodes online

4147478 Chloe is secretly Hawk Moth :trollestia:

4147494 No, it finished in Canada in both English and French. In the US, it's still airing and has only aired...I think 16 of 26 episodes, because Nick decided to be retarded and put it on a five month hiatus. :ajbemused:

4147565 Really? I´ve found english dubs to I think episode 25 or so. Granted, the site could have ripped the dubs from elsewhere. Curse you Nicktoons!

4147588 As I just said, it's finished in Canada in both English and French. That's where all the online sites are getting the full season in English from.

TRUST ME. It has NOT fully aired in the United States. I would know. :rainbowwild: Last Saturday was the first new episode we've gotten in the US since June, and before THAT it was on hiatus from the first week of March.

4147596 Well, that sucks. Well, at least we got Season 2 in the works, and at least one episode might feature China.

4147601 WILL feature China, that's confirmed. Also, that one's going to be 50 minutes long and in 2D.

4147616 Yeah, I heard about that. Hmm, an entire 2D episode could be interesting. Isn´t that going to be a Christmas Special or something? I recall Ladybug in Christmas as an episode title or something. Speaking of, I wonder if A. We´ll learn Hawk Moth´s Identity, and B. Adrien and Marinette will reveal themselves to each other

4147624 So far the info we have on season 2 amounts to "new villain", "two 42- minute specials that are holiday themed", "a 50 minute special set in China", "a major reveal", and IIRC the real Volpina.

4147634 Wonder who the real Volpina could be. Wonder if the fanfic authors are right, and it could be Alya.

4147478 Ain't that the truth, man, Preach to the choir!!

The solution is simple: Kill Chloe.
