TAS 2: Rooooooad Triiiiiip! · 3:51pm Aug 9th, 2016
It's been a long time.
Only the first 20 seconds are relevant, but I do reccomend watching the full video if you somehow haven't seen it before
It really has, though. OR's hiatus has been pretty long, but it's still somewhat fresher than TAS, the last (and only) installment of which was published three years, eight months, and fifteen days ago. It's wild to look at how much time has passed, both in the fandom and show, and in my own life. I am an older, wiser person than I was when I started this, yet I still think it's worth seeing through. It isn't timely now, and it's far from ahead of the curve. The prologue is frankly really clunky in a lot of ways. But I still want to keep going on this, to write the version of the Season 3 premiere that I envisioned from the previews. And a version I frankly think is kind of better in a lot of ways.
Anyway, the first half of this chapter was written in early 2013, up to the point where Twilight awakens when they stop in Canterlot. There, progress petered out as I wrote and re-wrote and re-re-wrote that scene, trying to properly convey the image in my head and Twilight's groggy disorientation at once. To be honest, I'm still not fond of how the scene turned out, but I think the version I've settled on is at least passable. After that, the rest of the chapter went rather smoothly, written over the course of an afternoon (July 16, 2015) while listening to this song on endless loop:
It's also interesting here, because I think this is where The Atlantis Scenario is really going to start shining - the prologue was short, mediocre, and not much actually happened. This first chapter is much longer, somewhat better-written, and... okay, not much still happens, but it's still an improvement. I don't know or care if it'll get that much attention in the long run, but I hope those who do read it wind up liking it.
Oh, and cliffhanger. I like making cliffhangers.
