Late Night Wrap-up · 3:43am Aug 9th, 2016

:ajsmug: Evening.
Did every one enjoy their weekend? I know I did. So, here's my post Gencon Wrap Up.

:ajbemused: Fuck combo. That's just about all I have to say about continentals. Either Tantabus is getting banned, or a whole bunch of cards are getting banned, and I want nothing to do with that.

Wednesday/Thursday: We started the drive from Texas at 9pm, then made it to Indianapolis at about noon, including the hour lost due to time zone. All in all, we probably should have left earlier. I wanted to participate in some of the events that were going Thursday morning, but that just didn't end up happening due to time constraints. We ended up playing with starter decks in a novice tourny and teaching several people how to play, then we played a block tourny. I didn't do well, but my friend with my Fear Twi deck did just fine. My other friend did in fact not play very well with a deck that is honestly better than he is. :applejackunsure: Eh. What can ya do? We headed back to the hotel and managed to sleep. Waking time = 24 hours +1

Friday: Continentals day for my friend and I, and my other friend's day to dick around Indianapolis.

Round 1, Villain Jacked (my deck) v. Super Casual bros. - Basically this. My opponent had no chance. 1-0

Round 2, Villain Jacked v. Honesty Epic Farm - I out played the hell out of this guy. Other people who play Apple Farm need to learn how to use friends in their decks. 2-0

Round 3, Villain Jacked v. ZipStop "Say Kase!" - Literally the deck I just about cannot beat. I did misplay here and there, especially during one specific double confront which was a terrible decision on my part, but even then, I think the lock would have stuck. Winning was possible, but the chances were slim to do so. 2-1

Round 4, Villain Jacked v. Copy paste Apple Farm - The legend of Discord Utter Pandemonium. Holy crap is it fun to sack just the most random shit with discord. Once again, out played the other orange farm deck by out speeding. 3-1

Round 5, Villain Jacked v. Pink Purple "Say Kase!" - Oh my god, this game. Utter frustration. I could have won, but because of time, I lost by one point. all I needed was to draw one card to break his lock. And I never drew it. Sad and depressing. Discord took care of several cards, and Nightmare Moon got rid of the rest of his deck. He had no deck left. All I needed was time. It was just sad really. 3-2

Round 6, Villain Jacked v. The fourth fucking farm deck - I played five of these total. This is the only one I lost to. Rock slide is a dumb problem, and 7 flips are bullshit. 3-3

Round 7, Villain Jacked v. Bluna Pink - I could not defend my lock, therefore, I could not beat the speed. I'm fairly sure I had appleloosa out for this game, so Fear/dismiss wasn't a problem, but I had no way to keep a lock on the field. My chance at top 16 was lost here. 3-4

Round 8, Villain Jacked v. The fifth fucking farm deck - I was quite frustrated to run up against this AGAIN. A grand total of Ten people entered this kind of deck, including myself, and I played FIVE of them. Out of, you know, sixty. It was even up until I pulled carbo and Iron will out. ended up winning up 6. 4-4

Round 9, Final round. Villain Jacked v. Another Pink Purple "Say Kase!" deck. Let's see. This guy was... okay? He was using Trash Dancer for some reason, and once that would have run out, he was done. But once again, time got me, so I had to pull a tie to keep from going negative. 4-4-1 Disappointed, but at least even, we left and slept.

Saturday: I am the sealed God. I was uninterested in who was winning or even in top 16, simply due to bitterness, so I did what I do best and played a whole bunch of sealed games. 3 packs of Marks in Time, High Magic, and 2 packs of Oddessyes, 1 thirty card deck with five problems. first draft pulled me a Bluna, and I went 3-0 because I'm insane enough to do the math. Draft 2, I didn't pull well, but I did okay. The legend of Waifu Jack in a hastily constructed orange white deck that enivitably fell to a Scootaloo. She's the most unfair mane available for draft, and it's more or less scoots or die. You know, unless Bluna, then there is no contest. We got done and headed out to Bud's Burgers, which was amazing. one more night until the second 24 hour day begins.

Sunday: Basically still today for me. It's a weird feeling to not sleep. We got up and cleaned out the room, then we went to the last day of the con, for Team Sealed. Woo, team sealed was sad. I wanted to play Waifu Jack again, but I had to make three decks in thirty minutes out of sixteen packs, or double the above. We pulled a Starlight Mane (WORTHLESS), and Burst of Strength. I ended up running Pink Purple control and become the person I hated to play against. I played dirty, I played, so very dirty. I locked my poor first opponent so had, he just gave in. I lost one game, and won a close third and an easy fourth. as a team though, my friends failed me on the last two rounds. They both got beat, but honestly, we didn't need any more Marks in Time Packs. Rares are about the only thing worth anything, and only some of them. The supers are all meh to lack luster, save for one, and half the Ultras (specifically Starlight) are utter trash. we leave with out meh winnings and a whole bunch of last minute purchases from the con and begin the drive back. We managed to leave at about 4 pm there and then I drove a grand total of about eleven hours with a five hour break in between in which my other friend took over.

Over all, Saturday was the most fun day of the con, and it was a blast when I'd finally gotten over my bitterness. We all enjoyed ourselves, and eventually we came to the conclusion that we'll be going back next year. I have two weeks before school, and one week of preparation without work. Super 7 is about a quarter done and I WILL finish TLOF soon. Here's to the coming school year. Later,
