The Quickening: The number 14 in My Little Pony · 11:22pm Aug 6th, 2016

With the recient premiere of today's episode I guess it's important to analyze this curious fact. Believe it or not this number has an important role in the show. Whether accidentally or on purpose it has caused many hits throughout the show. Want to know more? Then continue reading.

1x14 (Suited for Success)

Here two curious events happen for the series: first, probably the most important, it's the first time a song that has a reprise is heard. This situation won't be common from now on. The second, and perhaps the most important, is this:

2x14 (The Last Roundup)

Derpy has her first dialogue and more important: her name is confirmed (at least until the marketing team tries to censor her in season 5).

3x14

Although there's no episode 14 of season 3 some clues are given here to intuit that probably this episode was planned in preproduction. In episode 13 (Magical Mystery Cure) the main plot is compressed and quicken, we literally start with the conflict and just like that is solved, besides half of the episode are songs. But if effectively this was originally planned as a two-part episode that means that Twilight would become an alicorn in episode 14.

4x14 (Filli Vanilli)

A song is repeated over and over and over. Plus Flutterguy comes back to the series since season 1.

5x14 (Canterlot Boutique)

Here two important things happen: Rarity fulfills her dream by opening her boutique in Canterlot. But perhaps the most intriguing detail about this is that, for the second time in the show, a song with a reprise appears. The first one was Art of the Dress from Suited for Success.
You may say "Oh, that's not true. There are songs that have a reprise" and that's true. However this is not totally true because for the most part these songs have a repeat, not a reprise. The lyrics change but the essence remains, so the only songs which have a real reprise are sung in "14 episodes" and both are sung by Rarity.

Finally this episode aired two months after its predecessor, something that never happened before.

6x14 (The Cart Before the Ponies)

This is the only episode where the CMC's teach the lesson instead of learning it.

After all this analysis, what do you think of this theory? Do you think these coincidences were made by accident or on purpose? What does the number 14 means to you? Let me know in the comments.

Well, a part of me really wants to connect that with Doctor Whooves being the Doctor from "Doctor Who", but that would only make the smallest bit of sense.

So... I have nothing. But, if you'd like to look further into this theory, I'd check the history/histories of the show and it's creators, producers, voice actors, etc. Maybe it's sort of an inside thing to the creators.

And maybe, you'd have a theory! A FILM THEORY!
