Review Of A Flarity Story- Eternity By Tailalin · 2:55am Jul 30th, 2016
I'll preface this by saying that I do not do reviews for the sake of discussing technical things. So if such things concern you, while I might touch on them, don't expect anything comprehensive (or coherent) in that regard.
The story I refer to is Eternity. From the start, the characterization of Rarity is wonderful. She is concerned because of a missed appointment, and goes to find out what happened.
From the tags, you would expect something horrible, and you wouldn't be wrong. Fluttershy had a death in her family.
The revelation of who the death was, what it means to Fluttershy, and just how huge that family is, are what make the piece work for me. Rarity comes to the slow realization that Fluttershy's friends are extremely important and precious to her, and that her definition of friend is far more broad than Rarity's own. Through Rarity, we experience that loss with Fluttershy. It's not a loss that Rarity can personally feel, but she feels for Fluttershy. If you've ever had to comfort a loved one who lost someone, you know this pain.
Highly recommended. This isn't even shipping and I adore it. Flarity to me extends well beyond just the romance of the pair, I love to see those two interact on every level, and Taialan is absolutely wonderful at this, as my previous blogs on his work have indicated. It's in the box now, you should go read it.
Gosh, I don't know what to say about this besides thanks for the glowing review! It is honestly kind of scary how easy I find it to write all matters of Flarity—like, it invades everything I write. There is some 10k worth of Flarity on my computer just sitting around doing nothing. It's been proofread and edited and is basically publication-ready . . . it's just waiting for a prequel that has yet to be written.
