VHS Opening: BEETLEJUICE (10-20-88, Warner Home Video) · 5:51pm Jul 21st, 2016

On October 20, 1988, this Tim Burton classic came to a store near you. This is of course about a recently deceased young couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) who become ghosts haunting their former home, and an obnoxious, devious ghost named Betelgeuse (pronounced Beetlejuice, portrayed by Michael Keaton) from the Netherworld who tries to scare away the new inhabitants (Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and Winona Ryder) permanently.

The film opens with a promo for the film's soundtrack; besides the obvious fake stereo on Harry Belafonte's ''Banana Boat Song'' as heard in the promo (the film partly re-energized his career), one of the video's comments reads:

That Beetlejuice soundtrack ad is so awkward. The announcer takes forever to talk and is so spread out, it goes for many seconds without anything. That is a cardinal sin when it comes to making a short ad. Plus it only plays one song, why not mention and play some of [Danny] Elfman's score which was included on there? Thank goodness soundtrack ads got so much better in the 90's because that one sure sucked.

It then goes on to a promo for a Warner Bros. catalogue featuring two famous WB characters, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck (a similar promo appeared on the original home video release of Tim Burton's Batman).

Then it shows the FBI warning and then the WHV logo (this one is called the Cheesy Shield logo because of how cheap it looks) and then goes right to film.

Another cool thing to note about this video is that it was posted by a brony.
