    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

The Saga of the Shipping Potion, Part II · 2:38pm Jul 21st, 2016

Part I is here.

I might as well show the other half of the crazy nonsense now.

To start off, since last year's April Fools joke had me drawing a bunch of silly TomatoPie related nonsense, somebody thought it'd be a good idea to draw a Cheesora thingy, just because.

Cheese is still under the shipping potion's spell, thus why both are confused.

I even went as far as to jokingly design what their kid would look like:

Her name is Sunshine.

And then Cheese responds to be shipped with Flora like this:

And now we're back to regular old Shipping Potion nonsense after our April Fools' break.

Someone had to tell them. I better had 'fess up to the crime.

Apple Bloom, no.
GRANNY SMITH, NO!

(Designing dresses is fun...)

Fluttershy, sending her chirpy friends to set the scene. At least Flora likes the birds.

This is the point where Tomato and Flora started to find it creepy.

And then, somepony dared to ask this question:

And my answer? Well...

I think that Foal Forbearance Spell or whatever it's called might have sprung a leak. Either way, it's all Flurry Heart's fault.

So then, with the revelation that Cadance knows what happens with the stuff, the next scene is of her finding them, and well...

Yeah, if the Alicorn of Love ships you, you're doomed.

It was really easy for her to figure out what happened to the potion anyway.

But, no, she's not in any shipping mood. It's a miracle!

She's still going to make them kiss, though. Cadance, why does your potion even have an ironic cure?

Are you a troll? Celestia has taught you well.

Still, Flora's not all that keen with the idea....

Considering that everypony's now bending their lives around you two as a couple, yeah, you might want to get them back to normal.

I'm sorry we have to do this to you, Flora.

Tommy's nervous too.

But, hey, maybe this is just a red herring, and the real cure is something else entirely (because Cadance is a troll)! Something innocent, mind you, since both of them would be objecting louder at the idea of sexual intimacy than they are about the kissing thing. Flora can still be saving her first kiss for her eventual husband, and she and Tomato can escape this with their lip virginity intact! And everypony is happy!

Except...

Holy smoof, I've actually drawn that. :pinkiegasp:

And... does it work?

You tell me.

Well, everything's back to normal. Still, Tomato has one last thing to do.

So, later that day, Tomato finds her in the park.

Basically, he gets that Flora took it seriously. Most other ponies don't, but she did, as she wanted to save any sort of romantic affection for somepony that she absolutely knows deserves it. After all, she doesn't want any regrets in the romance department, and she's going to make sure to make them as few as possible. She has an idea of what kind of guy she wants, and that's who she was going to save it for.

In her own words, she wants "somepony with a golden heart, a solid grounding in his moral character, loyalty to friends and family, and a respectful attitude.” And likes foals, because she wants to start a family someday.

It's not that she doesn't like Tomato, it's that she's not one hundred percent sure if he's the right one.

Tomato points out that she's not ruined if she wastes her first kiss. She's still a strong, kind, and courageous mare that anypony would love to know and have as a friend--Tomato does, and we all know that he's got trust issues. If anything, the type of guy Flora wants should be understanding of what the situation entailed, and be fine with having her second kiss, especially since that one would have meaning.

He does at least manage to cheer her up a bit. And thus, the saga ends with a hug.

They're probably not going to start any romantic relationship (whether with each other or some other ponies) for some time after that shipping potion ordeal. But, after that period has passed... who knows what their love lives will bring?

AWWWWW.

I know Flora was serious about her promise to herself, but if she hadn't kissed Tomato, she would have married him, and in the back of her head, she'd never know if she'd picked the right stallion for her. So she did save herself for the right one. They're still friends. And if she winds up with Tommy, she'll know it was for all the right reasons.

Did you see that Cheese Sandwich is getting his own toy, with his party tank?

By turns hilarious and touching, with an impressive breadth of styles on display... though I do have to wonder where the Crusaders got those dolls.

Yeah, I saw those news, and the pictures too! Cheese getting a toy pleases me.

"Commence with the mating ritual!"

:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

:twilightoops: Sweet Celestia, Granny Smith! You're gonna poke someone's eye out!

And with that, the spell is broken, Flora's cheered up, and there's no lasting damage. Friendship hugs for the win!

Man I loved this arc. A long, solid humorous run, capping it with real emotional growth. Unfortunately, I must report that the kiss didn't break the spell, as I feel as intent on shipping those two as ever.
