    Kitchen's Closed

I cannot fucking deal with Anthony Bourdain dying before Henry Kissinger.

The only celebrity death to hit me even half this hard was Terry Pratchett. I don't even know where to fucking begin.

A Visual Glossary of Brawlers, Part One

I swear I'm not writing this just because some commenters said all the fight jargon was hard to follow, I'd actually planned to do this as a companion piece all along. Honest.

    Writing again, a bit

They say it's better to burn out than it is to rust, but after a year of adapting to a 50 hour/week desk job and barely writing anything because of it, I say "Why not both?"

Do I still have fans on this site? I hope so, because I've got a new story out! It combines three of my passions: teenage dirtbags, mixed martial arts, and prescription stimulant misuse.

Scarlet's First Ever Story is Out!

So, ScarletWeather, my future wife, is amazing. You all should know this.

For starters, she's my brain. If there has been a coherent arc in any of my stories, a well-crafted bit of characterization, an evil twist, welp, it was probably midwifed if not hatched entirely by Scarlet.

Luna Fights Clockwork Monstrosity and Composes Skaldic Poetry, Chuck Still Has A Book Out. · 4:04pm Jul 15th, 2016

So, after one week of enough shifts at Good Burger to lose my bodyweight in sweat, and a second week of being destroyed by a mixture of ritalin tolerance and ritalin withdrawal, my writing speed has slowed down slightly from its recent "novella in a week" pace. It hasn't stopped though, by any means, so I'm going to tease you with skaldic poetry!

Also, Company Town is still awesome and still available for a mere $3.99 or £2.99. It has glowing reviews from FanOfMostEverything, Aragon, and some guys on amazon!

I promised you skaldic verse composed by Luna in the middle of a boss fight, though, and I can't leave you hanging:

Fie! Fool fiend from furnace and ferrous born, beware!
No machine of metal may mar my magic hide
My swift strikes and swipes slip as shadows, sight unseen
Betwixt thy clumsy, crawling clockwork cog-strides.

In aeons past, long afore your beams of wood and
Walls of brick and metal cogs, chains and clockwork brains
Were e’en an acorn, sand, clay, and ore, at the fore
Of front lines, long hunts, and sacred marches stood I

Even imprisoned, held low in lunar lodgings,
Alicorn’s arts waning woefully, my weakest,
I held heavy in the air betwixt two hock hairs
Pure power, undreamed of by such wretches as you.

Hark, surrender! Your bite nor bark can win this fight.
I am Luna! Moon’s Mistress, more, I am the night!
Star-shaman, mind-mender, scryer of sleep-sojourns,
Against an anemic aberrations assault.

Power matched only by mirth and melancholy,
The night air’s ruler, unbound and unwavering,
Longing for the learned lavender love of one mare,
The new star, harmonic soul and student-saviour.

(Yes, this is part of the upcoming story for Spamotron. Stay tuned!)

CF, is it okay if I start a cult that reveres you? Because whenever you get your paws on an over-the-top Luna and her Purple Pal, it turns to 347 kinds of wonderful.

Also I've been replaying Skyrim and I can't help picturing that scene being Luna vs a Dwemer Centurion.

Holy carp, that's awesome! :pinkiehappy:

Not just skaldic poetry, romantic skaldic poetry. She's so unintimidated, she can't even stay on topic. Nice.

I am the night!

It's funny, I was at BronyCon, and on a panel, Tabitha St. Germane actually said that in Luna's voice. I squee'd.

Also, that having been the case, I dropped like $1200 on the con. So uh, I'm not sure if it's me being too cheap to spend $4 or me being too broke to spend $4. I'll have a look at the budget on sunday.
