Aside from all the horror stories that inspired Sunset Shimmer is FedUp!, there are more mundane annoyances when it comes to shipping companies.

Case in point:

SurePost may save the seller money, but it completely fucks everything up for the customer.

If this package was coming straight via UPS, I'd probably have it today because it would've gone straight to Houston from McAllen and been in today's delivery queue here in Port Arthur. Hell, even having gone to San Antonio from McAllen, it still could've gotten to Houston, then Port Arthur, then sorted in time for today's deliveries.

But no. It's a SurePost package. Which means for whatever insane reason, despite the most direct route being San Antonio to Houston to home, it went up to motherfucking Dallas!

I will never, as long as I live, understand the logic behind shipping company transfer routes. Especially when the USPS "money saving" middleman services are fucking up the works.

(Very much a first world problem because this isn't something I'm in that big a damn hurry for and three days is actually pretty reasonable, but when you see THIS KIND OF SHIT in the tracking history, it annoys the hell out of one.)

I could see you using this as possible story fuel in which the CHS 7 get frustrated with shipping problems.

I've ordered stuff from Oklahoma before. I've seen tracking details run from Bumblefuck, OK down to Dallas (which is 6 hours away from where I live) then back up to Amarillo (35 minutes away from me) before coinflipping either directly to my house or to the post office here.

So yeah, I know your pain.

I ordered some batteries on 'Speedy Ground' delivery, because apparently 5lbs of lithium Ion batteries are not allowed to fly. Starts in California (the home location of the company), components shipped to New York (IIRC) for assembly. 3 days later, in Alaska for 'testing', then back to California. Then Dallas, then Phoenix AZ, then finally my PO box in Scottsdale...Which was not allowed to accept packages of that size, so it had to be shipped to my home address (fortunately also in Scottsdale, but it would have been nice to know they had to ship it to the end address, because it was too big to accept at the PO box).

Moral of this story: Go to the nearest electronics store and use premade batteries instead of custom-ordering them. (Even though none of them carry 22V Li-Ion battery packs, only up to 12V (and that only in SLA)

I got my motherboard from California, and I'm currently vacationing in South Carolina, For some unknown reason they went all the way up to Indiana from there, and then went to me. Confuses the hell outta' me.

I'll admit when I first saw this title, I thought it was about shipping, and then I realized it was actually about shipping goods and services (I just woke up. I have been able to actually sleep for the first time in weeks.)

I understand that frustration.

I had a pair of earrings get held up in Arizona for two weeks. Which was weird because I ordered them from a New York based company.

Turns out, they sent them to my dad, whose name I share, and who lived in Arizona at the time apparently. It's... it's actually kinda funny because I get his mail occasionally.

I'm still not sure how they mixed that up because I provided an exact address.

Yeah, the co-mingling of various services and the labyrinthine ways mail goes from one system to the other is a constant source of frustration for me.. I work for the postal service, y'see-- Hey, stop throwing rocks at me, I didn't mangle your stuff, that was Denver!

So here's a story of mine-- I live in a small town in Wyoming. In rural Wyoming, there is no curbside delivery in my town-- So I have to constantly fight with just about everyone that yes, a PO box is a valid address, and no, sending mail to my physical address will not work. So I order I shirt on Amazon. I thought it looked cool-- it said, 'I'm not afraid of anything, I work for the postal service'. Hey, neat, okay. So there I am, at the post office, where we get daily deliveries from both UPS and Fedex (at different times. In varying conditions.) so there I am, scanning all of the crap UPS brought, and someone from Fedex calls me. They want my physical address. I explain the PO box thing, and they explain, no, this is FedEx express, we deliver to your door. I explain that no, I don't even have a mailbox, and couldn't they just drop it off at the post office because that's the address I gave Amazon and I'm totally here right now, and I didn't ask for FedEx express-- No, no, they deliver to the door. They need my physical address.

So Fedex goes and dumps my new shirt on my uncovered front stoop. It rains cats and dogs. Meanwhile they drop all of their regular packages off at the post office so I can scan all of them and put little cards in people's boxes. I come home to a nearly dissolved box in the mud and a soggy shirt that wasn't in a waterproof bag.

Screw you, Fedex, screw youuuuuuu. XD

But yeah, I sometimes see some crazy things. When people mess up the smart barcode thingies, you end up with people's stuff from Florida. And Alaska. I'm not sure how something going to Anchorage ended up in Wyoming, but last week it happened. There's this one law firm in California that sends mail to us every time they try to send something to San Jose.

I swear I'm the only one who's never had shipping problems. Then again, I try to stick to Amazon, when they DO have what I'm looking for it usually arrives within a week in the condition promised.

I've had a problem pop up once out of the six times I've ordered something. The five that went right actually showed up earlier then I thought they would, the missing one still to this day says "in transit for delivery" even over 5 years later.

How are you going to get GameCube games then? You can't get those in the stores anymore.

4100281 That was kind of an odd tangent, since I've never said anything ABOUT GameCube games. Are you somehow under the impression that I've sworn off having things delivered to my apartment? Because that's far from the case. I can complain about shipping companies screwing up things like this without that meaning "never ordering anything again ever".

I just recently got a GameCube on Amazon and it came with a big dent in the side and some disgusting goop in the memory card slots. (Guess who shipped it? FedEx.) it works ok, but I still wish I had gotten one in better condition. The FedEx thing sounded similar to that, so I made a connection between my experience and your experience. Sorry if I was unclear
