Just came back to the FFXIV game - Lots of lag? · 7:29am Jul 9th, 2016
Hi guys, as I have mentioned in the title I just came back to the game after a nearly 2 year break, and I am trying to get my character up to max level but the lag has been incredibly frustrating. It seems like I find myself getting a little disconnect symbol over my head several times a night and it makes Buy FFXIV Power leveling dodging telegraphs incredibly hard. I've done some searching on this and I've seen that people have had lag in the past but I couldn't find anything particularly recent. Is this still an issue people are seeing a lot? Are certain servers better than others? All of my characters are on Exodus but if it means being able to play lag free I'd rather just move :/
Thanks for any advice!
EDIT: My physical location is in New Hampshire, I have Time Warner as an ISP, and my connection is cable. This lag doesn't happen in any other game that I've played. I've logged into World of Warcraft and Black Desert Online to test this out and neither of them have any latency issues whatsoever. I do not think it's my internet connection if other games are having no issues.
Reset modem/router. Call cable company and verify your signal is good over the last 2 wks (usually DB, TX & RX). If all checks out then ping your FFXIV server ip for a bit and see if you have any packet loss. Or do a trace route to see if there are any hops where it is delayed. Chances are it has nothing to do with the game and more with your network/firewall or the path your signal takes to get to FFXIV server.
Also if you are playing on another regions server this also could be a problem.
Also if you have any other PCs on your network, whether wireless or hardwired, if there is any network processes running this could also slow the network (media streaming, etc). Or if any PC has any suspicious software running it could be flooding your network.
But as of FFXIV's latest patch there has been more reports than normal of game crashes. But nothing about disconnects or lag.
