Please check out this author who is CRIMINALLY underrated: "BlueColton" · 11:24pm Jul 4th, 2016

There are many writers here on my following list whose works I've read that I feel deserve more praise and follows. Today I'm starting some writer spotlights with a fimfic writer whose work is absolutely phenomenal.

BlueColton is an amazing writer who has many different types of fics. I've chosen to focus on the dark and horror ones.

Chitt-Chitt

This was the first tale i read from BlueColton. The concept is appealing in its simplicity. Sweetie Belle is told by Rarity that her baby teeth are taken by the Tooth Fairy. Sweetie Belle uses a camera to prove it's actually Rarity. Or so she thinks, until the footage reveals something absolutely horrific.

Do you like monster stories? Then read this. Now. :)

Fear

This one is a mixture of lighthearted and creepiness (yes that's possible :P ). The CMC are telling scary stories on Nightmare Night while inside Twilight's Castle. They have trouble telling stories until they find a story that may be more real than they expected...

This is also abound with references to classic grimdark fics, so see if you can spot them

Off the Road

http://www.fimfiction.net/story/297276/off-the-road

You didn't need to sleep tonight, right?

What better way to spend your night than reading a tale about what it would be like to drive on a cross-country trip with your friends, only to find a mysterious town in the middle of nowhere called Ponyville. A town that maybe you should have left alone...

You need to read this last one so much. It's horrifying. If you ever wanted a literary version of an MLP horror movie, then THIS is the story you read.

Give the author some love, some favs and ESPECIALLY some comments talking about what you liked most about their work. Those comments matter more than anything to us writers! Except ponies. Ponies are top-tier.

Thanks for the recommendation, I actually kinda enjoy horror

Check out their stories and HOLY CRUD please tell them what you think of them because they are FRIGHTENING. I've never been so unsettled by Ponyville than after "off the road"...

4068097 If you ever get around to reading my work, I sincerely hope you enjoy it. BTW, who did your avatar? I really like it.
4068102 You're just a planetary core of support today aren't you? Thanks for everything, BRB. You have one of the largest followings on Fim fiction. Having your support and recommendations means more than you can imagine. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

I hope I can return the favor someday.

4068117 Oh, I got it from an image I found online, I'll show it to you

I'd been off fimfiction for almost 4 full years with occasional stories and when I came back this past summer, I noticed that your stories were a cut above so many with a diverse style and excellent writing ability. i want to see more stories like yours become popular, because they deserve it.

I feel if more writers of your skill, ability and vision can be recognized, then we can enter a new period in the fandom where new wonderful authors get a chance to shine. :) I'd love to see that happen.

Yay spooky stories :yay:

Yeah! Check out BlueColton! They've got some really good stuff! I'm genuinely a little unsettled after that story "Off the Road." I mean, holy crap. I never thought I could see MLP in that way. O.o

I'll take a look. Probably avoid the horror ones. Personally I tend to end up not thinking about them for as much as possible even if i do read it.

4068117 If it scares me, it will be amazing. There's only one fanfiction on this site so far that actually managed to scare me so far, and it's called Out.Of.Character. by shortskirtsandexplosions. It's not even tagged horror, but it terrified me more than any horror story.

If you start reading, don't finish.

4070226 I don't know if I tried reading that once. I'll have to look back and see.
4069610 If you don't think about them, how else will you not be afraid?
4068792 My pride thanks you. I worked really hard on that story.
4068241 :yay: to you as well.

4071215 Just remember...

Never finish it.
Like, you can stop reading it, but you should never read it to the end. Comments on the story contain spoilers of the theme, and reasons why you shouldn't finish.

I assume it's one of those stories that's so scary it's literally a shock to your brain just to finish it. Something similar happened to me when I read "Friendship is Optimal." :P

Nah. I just stop, invent my own ending, then think about other things.
There was this book series, starting with "Tunnels," and basically a kid goes underground in order to stop an underground city from genociding everyone above ground. The description of the creepy ass shit in there actually made me quit reading it several chapters from the end, and just finish it through wikipedia.
Book is still somewhere in my house. I haven't touched it since.

I read stories to escape from life and to have fun (Dorky, my own shit, Dresden Files, etc) , not give myself more existential dread.

Whoa that sounds freaky, but also awesome :D I gotta check that out...
