Anime review - School Days (Worst anime ever?)

It has been oh so long since I have done an anime review, and by an anime review, I mean that single one I've ever done. The one on Angel Beats, but...I just couldn't resist a review on this one. I'm not even sure it is a review, its probably much closer to a roast to be honest. So without further adieu, lets get into this...Whatever it is.

oh sweet lord of mercy, where do I begin with this. I cant even be sure because last time, I started with the positives, then went to the negatives, but I really am struggling to find anything of substance to say that is positive about this anime...at all. urrmmm I guess the art style is pretty good? Seriously, I don't know, so how about I start off with the bad and then do the good? Sounds like a plan.

The Bad

1) IT'S BORING

I don't even know what I can add to this, watching it actually felt like a chore. I did say on Twitter, that it was ok, but that was after about two episodes, in which you generally cant expect much to happen when it comes to anime, but seriously, nothing even remotely exciting happened till around the end of episode 12. "Why is this bad?" You might ask. "At least something exciting did happen," you might add. Well, the series is exactly 12 episodes long, which means, it took all the way up to the last 5/10 minutes of the finale. Oh speaking of the length of the series...

2) Far longer than it needs to be

There is a serious problem I'm seeing here. technically, the standard anime length is 13 x 30 minute episodes, which I often believe is too short to get everything across. School Days, though one episode shorter, had the opposite problem. You may be wondering if they got the story across in maybe 10 or 11 episodes, leaving maybe one or two? No... of 12 episodes, not 1, not 2, not 3, but a whole 10 episodes were pointless. That is absolutely no joke, the full story could have been told if it was only two episodes long (specifically episode 1 and 12)

3 The protagonist

Just...no. I'm not even sure I can talk about why exactly the protagonist is the most terrible protagonist ever without breaking FiMfictions policy against NSFW purely based on the use of exceeding colourful language alone. Just...If the main character is detestable, then what is left? For the few that follow me on Twitter, it is highly possible you have seen pretty much what I have to say

4 The pacing

Know what anime I always thought had pacing issues that were beyond a joke? Sword Art Online...Know what has worse pacing issues by several (I jest not) million times? Yes, School Days. sure Sword Art Online suffered due to major time skips, but nothing about the timing of anything in School Days makes any sort of logical sense at all.

5 I put of another anime to watch this garbage!

Ok, so maybe it isn't technically fair to rate it based on this... Well, ok then, ignore this.

6 Stupid random b.s was made to look important

I believe this would be known as padding, like any more of that was needed when 5 out of 6 episodes were already made obsolete as it was by the fact the whole story could have been given in the intro and finale as explained in point 2

So overall, we have five bad points. that may not seem like much, but these are seriously some of the worst offenses. If it isn't entertaining, has abysmal pacing, an absolutely atrocious main character, and has five out of six episodes made obsolete. So now, lets look at the few good points.

1) The protagonist "gets rekt"

seriously, he gets murdered by one of the people he played...and he deserved it. Normally, in any anime main character death, I feel a little sadness whether I liked them or not, but not in this case, I was so glad he got what he deserved

2) Some of the other characters are actually quite likable

Not only that, they invoke a serious connection that is very realistic. For real, Katsura, was definitely the one singular gem of the whole anime. Definitely a character that I feel I can definitely relate to.

and that's all I can think of for the positives. Seriously, a single clip that lasts two minutes and a few characters...This is looking pretty bad. So as the title of the blog asks, is it the worst anime I have seen, and I despise to think this, but I have seen one anime that is worse, but that doesn't make this any less of a serious 0.5/10.
