THE CONGRESS OF BLACK HATS: At 5:30 PM on Friday, I invite all members of the Evil League of Evil to meet in Quills & Sofas for the distribution of black top hats, followed by a field trip to the 2nd floor food court of Harborplace. Bring a black hat if you have one. RSVP today with hat size or head diameter if you will be there and don't have a black hat. Latecomers will get cheap fedoras. We will bring the food back to Quills & Sofas and eat there, so that you'll be too bloated to resist when I corral you on to Advanced Writing at 6:30. I'll bring a pipe for themaskedferret to play as she leads you all off towards destruction edification. She hasn't agreed to do this, but I think she'd be good at it.
Volunteer to buy more hats are appreciated, though between Admiral Biscuit and myself we might have enough. I recommend these hats. Note at this point you may need 2-day shipping to get them by the convention.
ADDED: There is a rumor that Con Mane:
... will be observing our get-together. Please bring dark sunglasses and/or Nerf guns to welcome him. Remember that he is completely unrecognizable unless he's wearing his red bow tie.
HISTORIC SHIPS HEIST: At shortly after 2 PM on Sunday, various ordinary and unsuspicious people will meet on board the Constellation. That's this thing:
After the Constellation, we'll go to the Torsk. That's this submarine in front of the Aquarium:
In order to get on either of these ships, you'll need a Historic Ships ticket. A ticket for 4 visits costs only $3 more than a ticket for 2 visits, and there are 4 ships plus a lighthouse, so consider the 4-ship ticket. Note that Ship's Company will be on the Constellation on Saturday but not on Sunday. Complain loudly in the comments if this is important to you and you like being made fun of. A 4-ship ticket gets you on 4 ships; it does not get you onto the same ship 4 times.

For years I've had the idea at the back of my head that I want to write an action movie script where somebody hijacks the Constellation from the harbor and uses it in a chase scene. It would be completely impractical--it probably takes an hour to rig and has a top speed of 13 knots--but it would be beautiful.
THE GALA: If you want to go to the Grand Galloping Gala (Saturday 9-11 PM), you must bring formal clothes with you to the con!
Acceptable Dress Attire
Ladies: formal or semi-formal dresses of appropriate length, dress pants, skirts, blouses, full formal cosplay, formal shoes, military uniform
Gentlemen: dress pants, button-down shirts or polos, ties or bowties, full formal cosplay, formal shoes, military uniform, suit or tuxedo.
Cross-gender attire is acceptable as long as the person is dressed formally. Writers for web-comics featuring cross-dressing main characters are required to cross-dress.

And whaaaaat the Constellation and Torsk? That sounds like a great time! Count me in! You obviously don't want the ships company present when you visit--they're the only ones who could stop a heist. Not that I support that, of course. No way.
I feel oddly as though I'm being targeted here. Thankfully, I will not be attending any formal gathering at that time, inasmuch as I will either be hiding in my room rocking back and forth slowly or explaining my neuroses to horizon in excruciating detail while he wishes he were elsewhere.
This all sounds so cool, I just might lift my ban on international flying... next year.

The historic ships sound interesting, and getting the 4-ship pass could occupy time Thursday.
My head circumference is 23.5", will update as needed if my black-hat-having status changes between now and Friday.
As for the Gala, not too sure at the moment, but I'm pretty sure the principle of preserving option value dictates I should pack for it all the same.

I was the only adult in my social circle not invited to become one of the minions of the little girl/future Queen of of evil that my wife used to sit for. Unless by "reptiles" you meant "snakes" and by "limbic system" you meant "limbs", I think you misunderstood. "Shipping" is an overloaded term. The panel should be about boating and cargo.
Also, I think Titanium Dragon is more of a lizard-dragon rather than a Japanese snake-dragon, though I'm less certain of that.
I should drop by your hacker get together at the very least. Maybe also the boats, but that remains to be seen. Might not have a hat ready in time, but worst case scenario I can tie my hair in a ponytail and call it cosplay.
