So I FINALLY managed to get started on chapter twenty-seven. I've gotten 2k words finished already, and it's shaping up to be a good chapter. Apparently the REAL Dr. Brass had a few secrets of his own which MAY prove beneficial to our heroes as they strive to deal with a literal army of cyber ponies, as well as the fake Dr. Brass himself.
An awful lot has happened to Johnny 'One Note' Appleseed since the start of this tale. We found out about his tragic past, which ended up in reality being somepony else's tragic past. We found out about Bon Bon, and Celestia's secret agency, and we learned the true identity of 'The Butcher', and what he was really up to. We thought Johnny had died, and then later he really did die. And then of course there was the Sombra thing. Gotta feel sorry for Blueblood if he ever gets free again.
I've tried to keep the story interesting, all the while dropping clues in almost every chapter to what has really been going on. Some of my favorite classic suspense movies are the ones that the viewer has all the clues right in front of them to solve the case the whole time. 'Ten Little Indians' is a perfect example of this
I've used a lot of noir movie references throughout the story that some of you may, or may not have noticed. The Maltese Falcon, To Have and to Have Not, and several others.
Oh, and don't think that all has been revealed. There are still a few surprises left in store. One very BIG one comes to mind, that I have already left more than enough clues for the reader to see coming.
