Honeycrisp Chapter 10

Hello again, I'm here with another update to John Honeycrisp Apple. Spoiler talk after the page break.

I said it wouldn't take that long for the next chapter, didn't I? Just a few days later, and I've got the next one up. In this chapter, we get answers! Let's take it piece by piece.

First, we get the nightmare wisps. Creatures I completely made up. I think they kinda work in the grander picture of Equestria as a whole, but what do I know? It would explain where he's been for the last dozen years, as well as Granny Smith's observation that he hadn't appeared to age a day since his disappearance. Unlike the time travelling that I recall being suggested in some comments, they instead put their victims into a form of magical stasis. Alas for the Apples, it can't explain why a pony would think he's a human, but that's where the next bit comes in.

Poison joke. Is it cliched in the fandom by now to use poison joke to explain weird stuff? Maybe. Did I do it anyway? Obviously. I had actually partly set this up right from the start. If you look back to the first chapter, you'll see that a patch of poison joke was mentioned right before Twilight found John. It could explain why a pony would think he's a human, or alternately why a human turned into a pony. It wouldn't explain how a human got to Equestria, though. As Chekhov would say, if you show a gun in the first act, it must be fired by the end. In this case, replace the gun with magical joke playing flowers and shot with cursing people and it still applies here. It honestly would make a lot of sense that he could have gotten into the poison joke as he exited the forest. I am actually very surprised that nobody in the comments suggested that poison joke was the culprit.

Anyway, it's really late and I should have been in bed at least an hour ago instead of editing and posting this chapter. Goodnight everybody, or good morning as the case may be. I hope you guys enjoy the chapter and I'm going to bed.
