Hello, everybody! I'm finally posting the next chapter of John Honeycrisp Apple. Stuff with spoilers after the break.
Geeze...it's been about a month and a half since I last updated this story. Sorry for the wait, guys. I'm pretty sure the next chapter won't take quite as long as this one. Now if only I could force my way through rewriting that chapter of Altered Visage that I lost...
I wasn't quite sure if I was happy with this chapter. We've got a bit of interaction between John and Applejack, we've got a little bit on John's situation (though ultimately not much there as its mostly inconclusive), and then we get to learn the next step of the journey. While not explicitly said, I'm sure most of you, as fans of MLP, will immediately recognize the expert on the Everfree as Zecora. This chapter feels kind of lacking to me, though. I'm not sure what it is, but if I just keep obsessing over it, I'll never update this story again. Time to post it and move on.
Speaking of moving on, this story is definitely nearing its completion (at which point I'll be moving on to other stories, obviously). The way I've got it planned out on paper and in my head, I've got two more chapters to go. It could end up as three, but I wouldn't count on that. Next chapter is mostly written, and I've put a considerable bit of work into the chapter after that too. This partial completion of the next two chapters is partly why I don't think it'll take nearly so long to update again.
I'm not really saying too much here about chapter 9, maybe in part because I don't really feel like I have a lot to say about this chapter. I think I'll cut off the blog here. Goodbye peoples.
The chapter feels transitional. It sets up the next one. It's a good chapter and all, but for some reason I didn't sink into it like the others. Granted, I'm kinda sleepy, but still..
Greycait has a good point, it's a connecting chapter. It has the Sparks of a rekindled relationship with his estranged daughter and that's a good start of you ask me.
