I really want to "finish" it, but the closer I get to done the worse it looks. I should practice more with hair, manes, etc. I do not like how that's going so far.
Are you scared to death to live?

I could actually offer some advice here, but it would be easier to do in pony. I think the main problem is shading which takes a while to figure out. Here it's relevant because you're not doing a line contour like the show (where you have lines separating the edges), so the shading is critical to making it look natural.

The darkest part of the figure isn't on the opposite side of the light source, but on the side. You can look up some stuff on this online but it helps to see it in pony or to have a course in it (I have a minor in visual arts).

That does seem to be the issue. I've never tried to do a drawing without a line contour before.
If you would be willing to share some advice in pony sometime that would be awesome!
I'm not doing to well with the shading research and tutorials I've tried. I'm hoping practice will help.
