Flutter Brutter... · 4:06am Jun 5th, 2016
Season six, episode eleven is an episode I have been anticipating because it unveils Fluttershy's family, and more importantly her brother. To some it up in this one paragraph, I didn't like it. Here's why.
The Episode revolves around Fluttershy as she attempts to help her brother, Zephyr (totally not the name of a hundred MLP OC's in fanfiction,) as he struggles to get a life basically and stop living with his parents every time he gives up.
Not a very long description but the thing is... this episode really freaking bored me... I hate the character Zephyr, he hasn't redeemed himself in my eyes. After all Fluttershy and Rainbow's trouble helping him, (he does succeed mind ya'll) he just comes back (not a quitter this time) in the end and the cycle almost starts again, there's nothing really there to imply he'll do it. His character is such a snob and a jerk and just so unlikable at first, and I still didn't like him after.
Seeing Fluttershy take on a sterner front is a welcome change for once. I enjoyed seeing her being kind of strict with Zephyr. It was obvious from the start that Fluttershy wasn't taking any crap from Zephyr, which is awesome for Fluttershy whom a few seasons ago was a push over. It's good to see a little continuity from the Iron Will episode cross over into one of the newer eps, even if it isn't directly referred to.
I have to admit, even though I dislike Zephyr, I thought it was funny that he flirts with Rainbow Dash. It's not funny funny, it's funny in that it makes me smile but at the same time cringe. Sadly the episode doesn't take the joke and play with it. It's a repeat throw away and it's just so cringe worthy.
Zephyr's character might be relatable to a small few people as he is clearly based around people who do exactly what he does. He's a pony without ambitions, and there are people in real life (such as myself) who have no ambitions, and aspire to nothing. The lesson of this episode does hit me where it's deserved, even though I didn't enjoy it.
Also the Link (Legend of Zelda) cameo was fantastic.
