Follower Update/Flutter Butter Opinion · 4:34pm Jun 4th, 2016

Howdy howdy! Derply here, saying hello to all my friends new and old! I'm getting dangerously close to 300 followers for this page, which is sad seeing as how I haven't written anything in over a year... Thank you everyone who has decided to stick with me after all this time. You guys are awesome.

So then, for all you new people here and all those who need a refresher; here's the sitch. I am currently MASSIVELY depressed. I've held a degree in Finance for about a year now and I've STILL failed to find work with it. Not for the lack of trying, but my lack of experience has kept employers scared. Recently I did an interview up in the cities for a big corporation, and I was SO damn close to getting it... but then it literally came down to a coin flip. I've been an unresponsive blob ever since. Combine that with my freeloading brother being several months behind on rent, bringing in a girlfriend on top of that, me being out of work currently due to working with a school, and there being nothing in my life to distract me from my emotional issues and...

WELL LETS JUST SAY THAT FLUTTER BUTTER HIT CLOSER TO HOME THEN I WAS EXPECTING!!!

Like, whoa. I can't wait to see some of the analysis and reviews on this one. While this last guy's work, Newbie Dash, was pretty decisive in this fandom, this one really showed that he knows his stuff about these characters to me. Fluttershy felt so different, like she ACTUALLY evolved over this series due to the lessons she learned. A big step up from her last episode! Rainbow Dash was great as a supportive character, and it was also nice to get to see that "foalhood friends" flag get waived around again after being ignored for so long. Throw in little things like Pinkie Pie name dropping Cheese Sandwich, Fluttershy having a spine throughout the episode, freaking Legend of Zelda Link pony with rubies holy crap, ANOTHER Rarity cameo, and simply every character being IN character and I can see why a lot of people are going to like this episode.

And I haven't even touched on the major spoilery things get... but I will now. STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET MAJORLY SPOILED ON THIS EPISODE!!

... Still here? Good.

Fluttershy's brother hit me so much closer to home then I was ready for. When the Breezie episode hit years ago, it also hit me close to home because my brother was freeloading off of me at the time. I actually found the courage to threaten to kick him out that night after watching it. He broke down, we talked it out, and we moved past it... but life has a way of swinging things back to the way things were. Years later and he's currently my roommate and, while I thought things would be different, he quickly proved that it was going to be things as usual. Zephyr reminded me of him to a tee, and I thought this episode was going to end up repeating the Breezie lesson... but then we got to see and understand the things that make him relatable to Fluttershy; his fears and self doubt. He's TERRIFIED of failing, so he doesn't even try...

... which is what my current situation is job hunting wise AND writing wise...

... Again, this episode hit pretty close to home for me in more ways then one.

I think this episode will end being well received, judging from my first reaction to it. Great jokes, interesting new additions to the lore (Flutter's folks aren't as bold as Fluttershy herself... just... lol), nice references and character bits, song... yeah! This one was great! Much more memorable then Applejack's Day Off, though without it it would have had to compete with the one before that so maybe it wouldn't have been as well received... idk. That's just a theory... A GAME THEO- *Get's shot*

Take care now ^_^

I never thought there could be a pony that was more of a pushover than Fluttershy. :derpyderp1: You know it's bad when Fluttershy gives you a deadpan look.

I never get to see the episodes before these kinds of blogs come out but I looked over the wiki and the comments seem positive so I think you called that right.

The failure to launch thing will make him hit a lot closer to home for a lot of people... and it may invite this extra-critical attitude. Like comparing it to things you've seen and saying "but... its' not really like that!"

Like if you're a network specialist and you watch almost any movie with hacking in it.

And, of course, it could also potentially offend through insulting insinuations... but I think that Zephyr was a big enough of an unrealistic jerk to not really resemble anyone. They'll link with his sympathetic side, without getting insulted that they might also be his douchebag side.

... I was hard watching him be a douchebag, though. Even when he was better he was kind of obnoxious...

It does sound like you're having a hard time, though. :applecry: For all the reasons at once, it seems.

3999408 I know what you mean. My first thought when watching it was ‘Is this guy what the writers think Generation rent is like’?
