Hope it doesn't take another month this time. As you said, not much happened, and I was left feeling a bit unfulfilled.

I felt the same way, since originally this and Chapter 18 were supposed to be part of the same chapter, with the current Chapter 17 as kind of the "lead-in" to the more interesting part. The problem ended up being that by the time I finished what I posted yesterday, it was already ~4k words and I hadn't even started on what has become Chapter 18, so the choice was either to start revising what I had and post that or keep going and end up with a 8k-9k word chapter that probably wouldn't be finished for an extra 2-3 weeks.
Once Chapter 18 is out, the fact that it was split out won't matter so much, but for the present it is definitely less than ideal.
Though on the plus side, I decided to split things up during the rough draft, so the outline for Chapter 18 is already done. So (hopefully) it should be ready in 2-ish weeks rather than 3-4 weeks.
