With Pokemon Sun and Moon fast a approaching I had a thought · 6:13pm May 28th, 2016

Chances are after the newest versions have been out for a few months the Anime series will follow close behind. It'll probably be an excellent time to Put Ash and Team Rocket on a Bus for the series so we can enjoy getting to know the location with a whole new cast without it feeling like the guy that's been around way too long is horning in on the fun, but chances are that won't be happening.

Assuming they do finally decide to put Ash and his Pikachu on a bus for the series, and maybe have them do a cameo shtick in a few episodes, what kind of main character do you think they would do, boy or girl? And which of the Olola starters do you think they'd have?

Please leave comments, and share this around other forum and blogs, and maybe we'll get lucky with the inevitable anime that will come with Sun and Moon.

Sincerely before the introduction of Tokape... That egg Misty carried around in season 2 and 3, to me the show lost all narrative value, it felt like a copy paste and almost none of the pokemon in season 1 save Pickachu and Meowth are worth remembering at the end of the season, it was basically a 'Monster of the week' and from what I have seen of the newer 'generations' it's the same narrative as the first season. Now if you Enjoy that, that is alright with me. I simply don't and I don't think I can. Pokemon was basically shoved in my face 20 years ago and is still is, so I have no positive feelings for the series, and I just cannot being myself to get over it, the hype from 20 years ago left such a bad taste in my mouth that 20 years later I still cannot get it out. The only reason I would watch any episode of Sun and Moon is that Pikachu maxes out and finally evolves into a raichu and Ash ages... Only those episodes because frequently unless they actually change the show's diamanic the show will be basically a copy of the first five episodes of the first season. If you enjoy Pokemon, all the power to you. Just don't hate me for saying that at best I am apathic to it.

3998074 That's part of the reason this blog is here. I want to see the dynamic change in show series, the game series is fun because it's a new location with a new story with a narrative you can have some measure of control over, the show series has basically been doing the "hey, these are the new pokemon for this new region" and that is it. Ash has had total of 2 birthdays over the course of the series, in series he's only 12 years old as of our beginning to talk about this. I was 12 when the pokemon tv series, if Ash had grown up along with me he'd have reached his early to mid 20s by now. If they want to keep Ash in series I'm fine with that, but I honestly think the series would actually be more interesting if instead of following Ash and Pikachu around we followed a whole new character and their pokemon buddy around. It would change the dynamic of the show, especially if Team Rocket were dropped as side characters and a new group of idiots from the Evil Organization were following around the main characters for completely different reasons from Team Rocket. The show has gone on for so long that it needs at least one season to at least shake up the status quo. If the next season of the series finally showed a fully grown up Ash in essence passing the torch to a whole new character it would be cool to see, or even an Ash the same age he is now passing the torch to someone else while he goes off to pursue a completely different course. Despite the show having the tagline "Gotta catch 'em all" the main cast did very little in the way catching anything, it was more exploration of the new region and that's basically it.

Personally I prefer Digimon, for several reasons. One it was not shoved in my face. 2) Each Digimon introduced had some degree of weight to the over-all narrative even it was just a one time antagonist that pushed the main characters to their limits in that episode forcing them to grow. 3) They actuall tried different things and different narratives in each season, granted the results were varied in success but they atleast attempted.
I am not saying Pokemon is a bad show but they really need to change it.

3999188 Agreed on all fronts. Interestingly enough the bulk of Digimon games actually got bad or sub par reviews because mostly in part because of their lack of cohesiveness with the season they corresponded to. But I agree, Digimon as show is far superior. My favorite season overall is the 4th season, which is officially actually called Digimon Frontier. I'm still a massive of the original 2 seasons, mostly because I grew up with them in much the same way I grew up with the original Pokemon show. The main difference between the first 2 seasons of Digimon and and first 2 seasons of Pokemon was the fact that characters from the original Digimon had their roles redefined while allowing the new characters time to grow on us while also building on the lore of the series and changing how everything was done with new and inventive forms of digital evolution. I didn't really like the 3rd season of Digimon all that much because all I could see in it for most its run was an attempt to integrate the card into how digimon themselves operated. I liked the fourth season of Digimon because it did something dramatically different, instead of being partnered with the digimon the kids actually became the digimon. That all said, I'm eagerly awaiting the English dubbed version of Digiomon Tri, mostly because we get to see the original kids again in a high school setting.

3999307 Yeah season three, offically Digimon Tamers, is really decisive. I can see why a lot don't like it, but I have to give Digimon as a series credit for taking the chances it did with the season. I am torn between season 1 and Frontier as my favorite, but gun to my head, season 1. I think Season 2 could have better if they balanced Cody, Yoli, T.K. and Kari before they included Ken as a protagonist and not have the ending they did.

3999523 All true, but at least each season tried something to shakeup the status quo.

3999526 and to me that puts Digimon ten steps ahead of Pokemon
