Equestria's first ever radio broadcast interview · 5:05am May 28th, 2016
So I mentioned that I'd have a fun little follow up blog post to Finding Home, and here it is. I saw this character interview thing ages ago in senpei Eakin's blog, and I stole it because it seemed like a fun thing to do.
Welcome to Equestria’s first ever live radio interview! As this is a monumental occasion, we’ve arranged to have some very special guests here with us today! We have none other than Princess Twilight Sparkle, her newly wedded wife Princess Fluttershy, and their marefriend and captain of the Twilit Guard, Sunset Shimmer. For those that don’t know, as if there could be anypony who doesn’t know, Princess Twilight and Captain Shimmer are responsible bringing us this exciting new technology.
Of course all of Equestria knows your names, but they may not know your voices, so let’s start with some basic introduction.
Who are you? Age / race?
Twilight: I'm Twilight Sparkle, alicorn Princess of Friendship, and I'm twenty-five.
Sunset: They know your title, Twi.
Twilight: I'm just trying to be thorough.
Sunset: And you say I'm the egotistical one.
Now who's your lover? What's his/her age/race?
Sunset: Which one?
Fluttershy: Well it is your invention. You should go first.
Sunset: She's Fluttershy, Princess of Kindness.
Twilight: Why does she get to use her title?
Sunset: Because she's the best princess.
Fluttershy: Oh, I wouldn't say that… Anyway, I'm Fluttershy, and I'm a twenty seven year old pegasus.
Sunset: And I'm Sunset Shimmer, Queen Bitch.
What makes–
Twilight: Hold on. Sunset, you can't say that on the radio! There might be kids listening!
Sunset: Sorry if my title offends, but I am who I am, Twilight. Why can't you just accept me?
Twilight: She's joking. Sunset, please, listeners might take you seriously. And you didn't even completely answer the last question. She's a unicorn, and she's thirty-three.
Sunset: Maybe I didn't answer it because it's fucking rude.
Twilight: Language!
Fluttershy: Aww, it's okay Sunset, thirty-three isn't that old.
Sunset: What? That's not even a word here!
Twilight: And we should keep it that way.
Fluttershy: Maybe we should go to the next question.
What makes your lover so special?
Fluttershy: There's a lot of things that make Twilight and Sunset special. They're the two most talented mares I've ever met, they're always doing things with magic and science I could never even begin to understand. But something that Luna taught me is that you don't love somepony because of things like that, but because of how they make you feel. Twilight's always encouraging me to push my limits, and because of her I'm much more sure of myself than I used to be. But sometimes it's still hard for me, and Sunset can always tell when I'm in over my head, and I can count on her to step in and take care of things. Twilight makes me feel like I can be more confident, and Sunset makes me feel like it's okay when I'm not.
Twilight: …
Sunset: …
Twilight: Okay, that's going to be hard to follow. But I think you can probably already tell what makes Fluttershy special.
Sunset: You mean besides everything?
Twilight: Yes, besides everything. Me and Sunset can both get a little crazy, but Fluttershy keeps us grounded. I would never change the life I live, but being a princess can be pretty stressful at times. Fluttershy makes me feel calm. Oh, and Sunset’s good at building things.
Sunset: I can agree with that, but I'll also add that Fluttershy never gave up on me, even when she had every reason to, and even when I gave up on myself. She makes me feel like I do have something worth fighting for. And Twilight's good at reading things.
Fluttershy: They really do love each other. Actually, when we left for our honeymoon without Sunset, Twilight wouldn't stop mention–
Twilight: Next question.
Have you ever doubted your lover?
Twilight: …
Fluttershy: …
Sunset: Next question.
Fluttershy: I think we should answer this one, it might help other ponies with their relationships.
Twilight: I agree, even though it was pretty much my fault… I'll go first. The first time was when me and Fluttershy had been dating for a little over half a year. We met another mare who had a bit of a crush on Fluttershy. Even though she never did anything inappropriate, I felt really insecure when Fluttershy wanted to continue being friends with her. But that was just me being insecure, and I learned that for a relationship to work, everypony needs to be upfront with what they're feeling, even if they don't like how they feel.
Fluttershy: And it's important to understand that nopony can help how they feel. When Twilight did talk to me about it, all I did was make her feel guilty for having those feelings. I should have been more supportive, because there should never be anything that you can't talk to your lover about.
Sunset: Geez, you two were a train wreck.
Fluttershy: For me, I was insecure about Twilight and Sunset. Uhm, before we were dating, of course.
Twilight: That was also my fault–
Sunset: Our fault.
Twilight: –our fault. I, uhm, I may have kissed her…
Fluttershy: But we learned that nopony should ever think that they're beyond making mistakes. It's important to be able to identify and avoid situations where you might not be able to use your better judgement.
Sunset: Like working alone for hours every night with the mare you can't get out of your mind when she's somepony else's fiancée.
Twilight: Or doing that when you are somepony else's fiancée.
Have you ever used pickup lines on your lover? Which ones?
Twilight: Hmm… I don't think so.
Fluttershy: We were all friends first, so I guess we didn't need any.
Sunset: It's a good thing, too. I'm really bad at them.
Which is the most embarrassing moment you've had with your lover?
Sunset: Oh, that's an easy one. So Twilight's parents are living with us now, and–
Twilight: Stop! Don't record this!
Sunset: –and they walked in on me and Twilight in the midst of relieving some wedding planning stress.
Twilight: I see that red light, that means we're still recording. So help me, I'll shut down this whole thing!
Fluttershy: It's okay, Twily. I'm sure that's happened to lots of ponies.
Sunset: Yeah, but the thing was that she was kinda tied up to–
Twilight: Lalalalala! Nopony can hear you!
Sunset: –of course she couldn't say anything because she had a–
Twilight: Sunset!
Sunset: Okay, okay. I'll stop. Anyway, I guess they learned an important lesson, too. Always knock first.
Fluttershy: I guess they thought it was safe because I had just been talking with them. They probably thought we only did that kind of thing together.
Do you believe in waiting until after marriage to have sex?
Twilight: Unfortunately, Sunset's colorful answer to the last question probably answered this one for both of us.
Sunset: Does anypony still believe in that?
Fluttershy: I used to, but uhm… we didn't quite make it.
Do you have any desires that you would like to try with your lover? If you do then what is it?
Sunset: Where to begin?
Twilight: Not those kinds of desires!
Sunset: You’re no fun. Fine, I want to help take out some sort of epic evil monster. I’ll be so mad if they cleared them all out before I got here.
Fluttershy: You wouldn’t say that if you had seen some of them… I certainly hope our days of battling evil are done with. I just want to spend some time relaxing with the ponies I love.
Twilight: I’ll second Fluttershy’s answer.
Do you know your lover's weak spot? Does he/she know yours?
Twilight: You mean besides the obvious? Pretty sure everypony in Equestria knows I'm a sucker for a good book.
Fluttershy: Twilight gets very passionate about things. One way to get her in a good mood is to bring up whatever she’s working on and let just let her explain it. Even though I don’t usually understand it, it's nice to see her get so excited.
Sunset: Fortunately, we both like her rambling. Something we learned about Fluttershy: she loves being in the middle. And because we're both unable to resist her, she usually winds up getting the coveted middle spot in bed.
Fluttershy: I can't help it, there's nothing better than being surrounded by the ponies I love.
Twilight: I realized pretty early on Fluttershy really liked physical affection, but being able to double team her with Sunset definitely makes it easier. Speaking of Sunset, she definitely has a weakness for taking charge. If either of us is struggling with something, all we need to do is give her the smallest hint, and it's good as taken care of.
What happens if you find your lover with another man/woman? How would you interpret that? Familiar? Friend? Cheating?
Sunset: That's a stupidly vague question. Find in what way?
Fluttershy: I think we all trust each other completely. None of us would assume either of the others are cheating just because they were spending time with somepony
Any fantasy with your lover? Pervy answers allowed.
Sunset: Okay Twi, they're literally asking for it this time.
Twilight: Fine, just… go easy on me?
Sunset: Okay, this is kind of a long explanation, so just stay with me here. So first, we'd need to open up a shop. Doesn't really matter what, but like some kind of store or something. So once that's doing pretty well, what we'd do is actually transfer ownership of it to whoever came up with these questions so that way they can mind their own damn business, because that's a really personal question.
Twilight: I love you so much sometimes.
Fluttershy: ...well, I always wanted to try a threesome.
Ever had fights?
Twilight: Every couple has fights sometimes. And I'm a little embarrassed to say that some of them have been pretty bad. But the important thing is that we try to learn from our mistakes, and that at the end of the day we always still love each other.
Sunset: That's sweet. So what self help book did you read that one out of?
Twilight: See? Sunset’s about to start a fight right now, and will learn a valuable lesson about pushing too many buttons.
Sunset: What happened to ‘I love you so much?’
Twilight: I said sometimes.
How was the love confession?
Sunset: Oh man, if we start listing all of them we'll be here a while. Can we just agree they were all awkward in their own way?
Fluttershy: I kinda like looking back sometimes. I'm sure nopony will mind if we take our time.
Sunset: Fine. So I guess there's six confessions altogether. Twilight's was first, of course.
Twilight: Well sort of. I was the first to confess my feelings, although I didn't say ‘love.’ It was when I first came out as gay to Fluttershy, and it was pretty scary. Sunset and Cadence helped me a lot though.
Sunset: So wait, Fluttershy was the first one to drop the L-bomb?
Fluttershy: Yes. It was after our second date, and I had asked Twilight to stay the night.
Twilight: Don't give me that look. We didn't sleep together. Well, I suppose we did, but only in the most literal way.
Fluttershy: I hadn't come to terms with being gay yet, and while Twilight was around I didn't feel bad about it, but when she left I would feel so guilty. So I guess I just wanted to not feel bad about myself…
Twilight: Well, I certainly didn't mind being your teddy bear. That night she told me she loved me, and I was all too happy to say it back. I don't think either of us understood love back then, but I think most ponies feel that way at first. It can be very easy to confuse infatuation with love. Of course, I love Fluttershy with all my heart now.
Fluttershy: And I love you too, Twily.
Sunset: As for me, unlike these two this isn’t my first serious relationship.
Twilight: You’ve only been in one other one, you know.
Sunset: Still counts. So anyway, I knew what I was talking about when I first told Fluttershy I love her. I don't remember it on account of being incredibly drunk at the time, but I did know what I was talking about.
Fluttershy: At least you didn’t blurt it out right after sex.
Twilight: Fluttershy! Not you too…
Sunset: See, Twilight? You’re the only one still embarrassed to talk about sex. But yeah, the first time the three of us slept together, Twilight goes and blurts it out right afterward. Come to think of it, I guess that was also the first time I ever actually said ‘I love you’ to Twilight, but it was pretty obvious how I felt before then.
Fluttershy: It still took me a while to tell Sunset I love her. I wanted to be completely sure before I actually said it, since I rushed into telling Twilight.
Sunset: And it just meant that much more. Even if you did try to just slip it into a casual conversation like it was no big deal.
How do you feel about your lover's family members? Do you know them?
Sunset: Are ponies still on that? Well sorry to disappoint, but we’re getting along great these days. We just had to clear up the initial confusion with Twilight’s parents, then we could finally get to know one another. Her siblings were even easier, especially Spike. It’s impossible not to love him. And I actually knew Cadance before Twilight, but that was a long time ago.
Fluttershy: Twilight’s whole family accepted me as one of them right away, long before we were even talking about marriage. We did also meet Sunset’s parents at the wedding, but, uhm, we didn’t get much of a chance to talk.
Twilight: And of course there’s Rainbow Dash. A lot of ponies don’t seem to realize she’s Fluttershy’s sister. All in all I’m happy to say we all get along with each other’s families.
Speaking of families, do you wish to start one together?
Sunset: Ah, the question on everypony’s mind. You do realize ponies can get married without having foals together, right?
Twilight: It’s not the right time to make that decision. Me and Fluttershy have been together a few years, but we haven’t been with Sunset for that long. Right now we need time to just settle into this new part of our relationship, then we can readress that topic.
We're finished! What are you going to do now?
Twilight: Because of somepony, I’ll probably have a lot more questions to answer, all about what is appropriate to say over the radio. We never should have agreed to have this as a live broadcast…
Sunset: Then I better get to apologizing. I’d rather not sleep on the couch tonight.
Fluttershy: It’s okay, I’ll just sleep between you two!

This was a super funny look into their relationship! I loved how crass Sunset is, the way you write her makes her wacky without overshadowing her character. All the ponies were super spot on with their responses, and i just di ed at Queen Btich it is ME, sunset is my daughter.
This reminded me a lot of S06E09, The Saddle Row review (or whatever it was called), when all the ponies are being interviewed. Snappy, sappy, and funny. 8/8 would read again m8

Finally got around to checking this out, and it certainly didn't disappoint. And I have to second 3978671. The interview was getting plenty of chuckles out of me (and actually felt in character instead of just lolrandom), but I actually had to stop reading for a minute on that one.
