New Doom, and stuff regarding it · 7:02am May 20th, 2016
So, as you've most likely known for some time, the new Doom came out and was actually pretty damn good. I would know, having played through it myself. In fact, it was one of those good kinds of games that makes me want to write something about it.
Which is what brings me to make this post in the first place. I'll assume you know that I already have a Doom fic up (two, if you count that other collab one, but nothing's happening to that). It was my first fic on this site, in fact.
And, oh boy, does it show.
Looking back, there are a lot of things I did writing that fic that were either awkwardly written or were just bad ideas from the start. Probably the biggest one is the sequel hook I ended up leaving and then not acknowledging for years. And if you're still waiting for that one, sorry to say, but it's not going to happen. Terribly sorry to anyone who was looking forward to it.
That being said, the core idea is still something I really like, and still support, even if the execution could be touched up a bit.
So, that's where I come to you, the people who read such a fic. My interest in Doom has once again been ignited, and I honestly think that the new Doomguy who is still technically the old one most likely is the best one yet, purely based on how he interacts with others (by which I mean the few not-demon people he meets).
I'll just cut to the chase here: I want to write another Doom fic with this new Doomguy, but it would be a bit too similar to the old one, I feel. Which leaves me a few options.
A.) Write the fic as its own separate entity, entirely disconnected from the other Doom fic.
B.) Write the fic as a sequel to the first Doom fic; I've already come up with a way to make this happen, so don't worry about that.
C.) Delete the old fic entirely (by which I mean all the chapters), and write the new fic on top of its corpse, making it double as a rewrite that would benefit from my better experience and writing skill.
I know that whatever I pick will affect you, the readers, so I decided to ask what you guys want to see. So just leave a comment saying which one you'd like to see most.
Oh, and don't expect this to happen for a while, no matter which one I do. I still have a bunch of unfinished fics running, so yeah.
I like the "it's a sequel" one, but given that it wasn't great I'd say option number C.

I think you should write it completely separately, though, have it stand on its own legs.
