Gotta say, I'm not too happy with this episode, and that's not something I say often. To me, it smacks of the same old "You'd better celebrate this holiday or you're WRONG" attitude one feels inundated with if one reveals that one doesn't celebrate Christmas.

Then again, it is a play on A Christmas Carol, so it succeeded in that regard.

But seriously? The entirety of the positive quality of pony life hinges upon the continued existence of this holiday? And am I to understand that nopony is allowed even one year's break from it, or Bad Things Will Happen? I mean, if it were just Twilight gasping (with maybe Spike looking at her like "Oh c'mon, it's not that bad"), I might just chalk it up to "What if Princess Celestia sees this as her regressing into unfriendly ways, and decides that I'm not only unfit to teach Friendship, but that I have to go back to Magic Kindergarten?!?" levels of paranoia. But Spike gasped, as well, so he seems to share her shock.
