The continuing fight against the alien overlords by the random crazy people that volunteer to fight for us!
Operation Brutal Sentinel
Recovering a VIP. Sent team 1. Big Mac, Cadance, Voice, Suffer.
Big Mac was forced to stay behind to cover our retreat. Mostly because he just couldn't help but shoot at the enemy instead of escaping.
Operation Hell Chalice
Destroy alien relay
Sent in the newly formed Team Review. Which consists of the two new recruits PresentPerfect and Titanium Dragon, along with Voice, Perry, and Loganberry. That last one I suspect I was mixing up with someone else so the name of the soldier in question has been updated.
Team Review apparently is a fine-tuned machine of alien destruction. Only one got wounded and lots of by-the-numbers alien killing.
Time for the big assault on the secret alien research base! We've got five-person teams, new fancy laser swords (that is the offical term from engineer central) and Team Pony (and Horizon) is ready to deploy.
...
Well, that didn't go well. One lucky shot and two death by snake tongue'n'squeeze. So we will be going to an eariler save and trying that mission again.
On the plus side, I got a nice example of the 'lifetime stats tracking' feature. Rainbow Dash is turning out to be a really good shot, apparently. As seen in the screenshot below where that mod gives a 'estimated accuracy' based on the soldier's history of hitting/missing. Rainbow Dash has been very accurate. As opposed to Sweetie Belle who has a estimated accuracy often 10-20% below the system calculation.
So, Team pony (and horizon) get equipped with fancy new armor and sent out to execute mission Patient Stallion. Which goes much better this time. Mostly because we manage to kill the one snake that shows up before it can kill half the squad. Not to mention I took the risk of giving Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle permission for explosive use and gave everybody twice as many gernades as usual. Not much of the facility was left by the time we were through it. The team literally went through it. Boom, boom, boom, straight line through one side of the building.
Everybody except Horizon was wounded. Everyone except Cadance got promotions.
Spoiler from the future. The phrase 'some/all of the team except Horizon got wounded' shows up in a lot of after-action reports for Team Pony (and horizon).
Isn't that the point of meat shields?
