Not with a bang, but a whimper

    Hey friends.

I didn’t used to believe in writer’s block as such. I always thought the phenomenon was a manifestation of something else in a person’s life. I also thought the cure for it was just to sit down and write any garbage you can. Editing should never mix with drafting, and if you can get yourself to stop editing, you’ll achieve more and better drafting—which can then be edited.

Ping 2: Live and In Person

Almost exactly 2.5 years ago, my family and I bought tickets to Whinny City Pony Con 2020. Of course there was no such con, at least not in a physical capacity. But good egg that he is, Charlie Worthley (con organizer extraordinaire) has made it effortless to transfer our tickets from that long-ago time to right now, despite all that’s transpired between.

    Ping

    I live.

    Time's gotten away from me.

2020 got weird. My 2021 started with an honest effort to get back to normal. But after I started getting treated for depression, I began to see more and more ways to improve things in my daily and family life that hadn't fit together very well in years. Including some of the core issues that had pointed me in the direction of MLP in the first place.

    Artistic Expression

It's been too long. Things are great. Really, really great. Not so much for writing, but for different modes of expression and life.

    “Senator, you’re no GaPJaxie”

As it happens, this fellow over here threw out a request for story prompts, and my own suggestion has garnered quite a few upvotes. Not only did this strike me as a fun thing to see in the venerable Pony fandom in the Year of Our Lord 2021, but it reminded me of

Something special for Mother's Day · 2:02pm May 7th, 2016

Several months ago, I asked Oroboro if I could do a dramatic reading of one of his Writeoff stories... and he said no, it wasn't ready, but I could read any of his other stories on FimFiction instead.

I somewhat reluctantly settled on "Thanks, Mom," which was short, lovely and poignant, but which I wasn't sure I could pull off by myself. I don't feel like I have much of a Twilight Sparkle voice... and as I started working on it, it became clear that I really don't. I was going to need an actual voice actor. Fast forward to Whinny City Pony Con, where I just happened to meet one whose talents speak for themselves!

So without further ado: Happy Mother's Day! :pinkiehappy:

Now, before anyone else says it: Yes, I need to take a break from these dramatic readings and get back to working on To Serve In Hell. I promise, this will be the last one until I get more chapters out there! :rainbowdetermined2:

Well, I think it turned out wonderful. :raritywink:

You both have a good range of voices there.

3927146 Thanks man! :pinkiehappy: It was quite the journey getting this recorded, but I learned a lot and I think it turned out well.

I almost want to go back now and retool my past videos, now that I know how to get Windows Movie Maker to pretty much do what I want... but again, To Serve In Hell needs to start taking priority. :raritydespair:
