    I'm (still) not quite dead...

I'm sorry, I am so very sorry for the lack of updates on, well, anything. A few of you have probably noticed that I've still been putting in the occasional appearance or comment, but as for chapter updates...yeah I've barely written anything for months for various reasons - work sucks, arranging a couple vacations, a falling out in my D&D group of 14 years, and just a sort of malaise that

    When you're writing a chapter...

And listening to music to keep yourself in the mood, and then you hear a song that has you suddenly realize that you've been writing the entire chapter wrong and should have instead been basing it around the song - not necessarily using the song directly (especially since that would be against site rules concerning wholesale copying of lyrics), but certainly drawing on it for inspiration.

The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!

The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.

Just Saw Captain America: Civil War · 8:42pm May 6th, 2016

GO SEE IT!

The blog post below is spoiler-free, but I make no promises about the comments. Ye have been warned

Oh, if it matters, I'm Team Cap.

It deserves all the accolades it's been getting, for all the reasons it's been getting them. It goes without saying that it's better than Batman v. Superman; a root canal on every single one of your teeth without painkillers by a novice dentist while someone is singing "Achy Brakey Heart" is better than Batman v. Superman.

But Civil War is seriously one of the best films in the MCU, and might well be one of the best films I've ever seen. It does everything right.

SEE IT.

OK OK I WILL JESUS

please don't hurt me

Will see soon. However can already tell there is one glaring flaw in movie( unless it actually happed). When the heroes were lined up ready to face off against each other, Deadpool did Not show up out of nowhere with a boom box and start playing Machael Jackson's "Beat It".:pinkiecrazy::trollestia:

Sadly, I can confirm that this did not happen. It sort of would have ruined the gravity of the moment, though.

Okay, okay! I'll go, I'll go! :p

3925271 Yeah, I can see that. But it would be Amazing if they made it an extra when they release it on video.

I WON'T! cause I'm a REBEL! :derpytongue2:

Which team do you support. I'm with iron legion.

3925299
I am of the opinion that if you're in a fight, and Captain America is on the other side of the fight, then you've probably made some poor life choices and need to seriously consider whether or not you're actually on the right team.

Team Cap all the way.

3925305

I'm for engineering.

But the reason why I support iron man is because Tony is a human. In the movie he has faults. And they are highlighted. For that I respect him. He also said he was wrong. Captain America would never admit that even if he made a mistake.

Captain America only had one flaw. His body. Which got fixed with the super soilder serum. So now he is perfect. In leadership, judgement, looks, etc. forgive me for not side with a perfect hero I can't relate to.

Captain America would never admit that even if he made a mistake.

More Cap is the sort of person who never lets a mistake get him down. For example, and without getting too spoilery, he makes a mistake in the beginning of Civil War that costs a number of innocent people their lives (Scarlet Witch is also involved). However, instead of becoming mopey about it or fixating on it, he recognizes the mistake, admits he screwed up, but then moves forward from it. He isn't ignoring it so much as acknowledging (through his actions) that the mistake happened, he can't change it. What he can do is learn from it and endeavor to not make the mistake again.

3925299 Team Cap, in both the movie AND the comic CW arc.

3925513
Honestly I don't understand how anyone could be on Iron Man's side in the comic arc. The movie has essentially nothing to do with the comic arc, though, aside from the title and main characters involved.

3925518 The same people who want gun control and demand that the First Amendment be rescinded on college campuses.

3925518 They're willing to sacrifice everybody else's rights for the perceived "safety and comfort" of a scant few, not realizing that the ground they walk is treacherous.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Benjamin Franklin

3925501 but he never admitted to that mistake.

3925619
He totally does, actually, when talking to Wanda; he even takes all the blame on himself and Wanda has to say that it was as much her fault as his. He never tries to say that he doesn't screw up, in fact quite the opposite, he outright says that the Avengers have made mistakes - but that ultimately they're still better off without political oversight because what happens if they need to be somewhere but the UN says "no"?

One need look no further than Rwanda to know that the UN is a poor choice for any kind of quick-response intervention team like the Avengers is supposed to be. Plus, Steve very much has my view on matters of intervention; that is, that I'd rather be asked "why didn't you stay out?" than "where were you when you were needed?"

3925705 let's stop.

I respect your choice I hope you respect mine.

Let's agree the movie was good.

Saw it. Loved it. I have no idea how Marvel keeps pulling it off, but they do. Not only was this a hell of a fun movie, but it manages to get me pumped for more. I was worried they might not do Spiderman quite right, with so little time, as he's among my favorite Marvel heroes, but they actually nailed his part exceedingly well.

So, yeah, worth every penny of the ticket to get in.

Can confirm it is awesome. Just like Superman v Batman they stuffed the movie full of extra bits to lay the groundwork for extra movies, but for this one it worked.

3925260 I quite agree. After Deadpool came out, I said to my best friend "I know they'll still make other movies without Deadpool in it. Even other superhero movies. But really, what's the point?"

Just saw the move today myself and I agree 100%, both that it's a great movie (quite possibly the best Marvel has made yet) and also Team Cap all the way!

Although I would still dig me my own Iron Man suit...

But seriously, the movie is so good that even where it might arguably stumble it's still amazing. I can't remember the last time I was so unquestionably entertain by a movie from start to finish like this. It's a testament to everything good about comicbook superhero movies and proof positive to any naysayers that the genre isn't going away anytime soon.

Also, that it so thoroughly trounces BvS in ever conceivable way is an embarrassment I doubt DC will ever be able to live down, or at least not anytime soon. I don't think there could be two more polarizing examples of both how to do things right and how to screw up entirely.
