Second prances? Doesn't that imply a first one? · 11:05am Apr 30th, 2016
Now, given the format of the series and the need to have recurring antagonists, it might look as if today's episode is a foregone conclusion. In any other cartoon, Twilight's suspicion that Trixie will try to change Starlight's job description to 'disposable accomplice I only pretended to like' will be proven true and she can continue to be a magic superhero (like, say, Bloom of the Winx Club) who chases the same idiot (or idiots in triplicate named the Trix girls) forever. The problem with that is that we have a world with Discord and Diamond Tiara in it which means that we have even odds that Twilight will end up looking very foolish because Starlight is Fluttershy to Trixie's Discord: the only person who can redeem an idiot bad guy.
In that instance, we're going to have to remember an ugly fact: Twilight cannot be said to have afforded Miss Lulamoon a second chance because she has yet to give her a first one. She might not admit it but she took an instant dislike to the showboating bullshit artist because she reminds her of a tendency she hates about herself and works like a piston to suppress: the very human need to boast about one's accomplishments. The more Trixie shoots her mouth off, the less Twilight likes her.
