IN WHICH I SHARE VAGUE PERSONAL INFO
One of the nice things about living in Tornado Alley -- and by that I mean not nice at all -- is that every few weeks in Spring there's another severe weather scare. You get used to it. I'd probably ignore the warnings entirely if not for what happened in Joplin (a couple hours away from me) a few years ago. At least this time the tornado sirens didn't go off and there wasn't any hail. Just to be safe, I decided to hole up in my bathroom for half an hour with my partner and her cat.
Back when I lived in the country, about a decade ago, it was fun to stand on the front porch and look out west to see the spring storms roll in. It got a lot less fun that one time my car (parked outside for lack of garage space) got hailed on at 5 in the morning to the tune of around $1000 in damage. Fortunately my insurance paid to fix it. I have a garage now, and I made damn sure my car (same one) was in it before the storm hit tonight.
Yes, I'm American. It's not something I like to advertise. But that's a rant for another day.
I find random information from random people on the randomnets very intriguing. I have experienced some damn foul weather but probably nothing like that.
None of us like where we are from.
