I haven't liked MLP since the second season. Writing Smoke is not fun, because I'm really done with the setting. It's hard to write fan fiction when you're not a fan, you know? But it was so well received, by so many people, that I'm loathe to just let it die, even if that may be the best thing for me. And, it may not be the best thing for me. I'm not great about seeing things through. Not even finishing part 1 of what was supposed to be three parts long would be another failure, and people who've put up with me for so long deserve to at least see how part one ends.
Another problem is just plain out of sight, out of mind. Pony isn't part of my routine anymore, so it's easy to just not think, "Oh yeah, should work on Smoke.
I recently got a PM from a newer follower who said Smoke had been a positive effect in his life. How often can a degenerate peddler of deviant pornography such as myself claim to have been a positive force? >_>

Such overwhelming sympathy. :P Unfortnately, I pulled jury duty which pretty well wrecks my whole week. Seriously, in what goddamned universe is it reasonable to tell people "Be here at 8:15 am, starting tomorrow!" I'm scarcely awake at 8:15 am. :P At most, I'm hunting for my socks and cursing at my alarm. :P
You wrote 30 chapters with almost 200,000 words, added several chapters with the OC of other people and created a bunch of characters people like to read about not just because of the porn. I wouldn’t call that a failure. You should try to see it form different perspective. Don’t say: “Oh no. I couldn’t finish this story. I let everyone down.” Instead you should take pride in the fact that you wrote so many chapters that received so much positive feedback. At least that’s how I see it.
If there’s no more joy in writing Smoke and you’re only doing it out of obligation to your fans you should stop. It would sadden me to never see a

If this were my criteria, I'd have stopped around chapter 7. <_< What's going to happen for now is that I'm going to defer this chapter. Unlike the canceled bondage chapter, this one isn't being dropped. I'm going to work on a third person piece set in Smoke's universe that's actually part of Smoke's continuity, but isn't a chapter.
