Which would be you guys. Who followed me. For your own personal reasons.
It's been a hell of a ride so far.
Seriously, though, goddamn. I never thought I'd get this many followers when I first joined the site. For fuck's sake, it took me six stories to get my first follower. Judging by the alleged quality of them, I'm honestly not surprised now. You can take a look for yourself(but srsly don't look I will literally die from cringe).
I'm not gonna lie. I felt a little tingle in my chest once my follower count hit four digits. Now I'm in a group with 191 other people. Out of allegedly 204k accounts. I wasn't really sure why people followed me, though.
I used to joke that I would confuse my way into upvotes because there was no way the actual quality of my writing would cause someone to follow me. Even recently I was waiting for the day where the curtain would lift and someone will say "hey that Majin Syeekoh character doesn't actually write good stories" and people would be like "hey you're right his stories are kind of bad" and then I'd have to turn to supervillainy for my shallow validation.
That's why she did it, right? To be adored?
I've come to terms with the fact that I'm not the worst writer, because the majority of people who commented on my stuff seemed to derive pleasure from reading my fics. That seems like a good benchmark for "not being the worst writer".
I am acutely aware that I'm also not the best writer, which is why it makes me incredibly uncomfortable every time someone claims I am. Seriously, guys, don't do it. You'll make your favorite pony cry. I know writers far better than I with both more and less followers than I have.
In the end, all I succeeded at was impressing a thousand separate individuals enough that they wanted my dumb stories and my dumb blogs clogging up their user feed.
But mostly the dumb stories. I know where my strengths lie.
There's something humbling about this "accomplishment".
Mainly the fact that I couldn't have done it without all of you.
