Quick Life Update · 7:53pm Apr 11th, 2016
Hey everyone!
I thought it would be prudent to give you an idea of what's going on in my life, just so you know that I'm not dead--and give a short preview, so you know what's coming up :)
I'm close to graduation, but school work is ramping up sharply right now; I don't plan on getting any serious ponyfic work done until next week, at absolute earliest; more realistically, it will be early May before I get back on the horse (heh).
BUT:
I have a longform ponyfic that I'm almost done with. It's in the final revision stages now; one last pass on my part, and I'll start publishing it. It's a bit of a doozy, but I've gotten some good reviews. I plan on releasing it a couple chapters at a time over the course of a few days to a week; hopefully, that will give you time to catch up. I might start posting it as early as next Monday (Sundays are my pony days ).
It's titled "For the Good of Equestria." Here's the blurb as it currently stands:
Princess Celestia has ruled Equestria for over a thousand years. She has appeared on pottery, in statues, and in paintings. Her face has been on the cover of every newspaper and tabloid on the planet. Songs, sonnets, and satires have been written about her every decision.
But no one knows a thing about her--not really. For all her fans, followers, and admirers, no one has any idea who Celestia really is under that mask of hers.
In the wake of a great tragedy, Celestia opens up, and, for the first time, tells her own story. For the first time, she tells her side of what happened with Discord and King Sombra. And, for the first time, she tells what it's like to have to give up everything she's ever had, everything she's ever wanted, everything she's ever dreamed of--all of it, for the good of Equestria.
This, like "WTF," will be part 1; I'm planning 3 parts, but part 3 is rapidly expanding in my head.
I plan on alternating between working on the longfic and "WTF," but we'll see what happens. Next in the hopper will probably be FtGoE pt. 2; I've already been putting that off too long (I finished writing this part in, I wanna say, February?) I have no idea for the time esitmate, but let me say this: I started writing FtGoE in earnest in late November of last year, and, IIRC, WTF was about 2 weeks from start to finish.
I'm also batting around ideas for a couple shorter fics--one-offs, that sort of thing--that I might use to space out the longer ones. Any of these sound fun/interesting to you?
-The Dragon in the Basement: "Celestia's not a dragon, but she can send dragonfire messages. That shouldn't be possible... unless..."
I have a "silly" and a "dark" take on this concept; I'm thinking about writing two short-ish chapters exploring both sides.
-Just Another Jane Doe: "To everyone's surprise, Jane Doe, the most famous fashion designer of Whitetail Woods, suddenly emerges from hiding. And she has some words for Rarity."
An old, silly idea I've had ever since I heard the song "The Type of Pony Everypony Should Know." In that song, Rarity says she's "not just another Jane Doe"; given that this is Equestria, I figured, there has to be a literal doe named Jane somewhere--who would probably take offense from the reference.
I'm also thinking about a couple other "Postscript" fics, which would explore in more detail some possibilities from either WTF or FtGoE--for example, I have a half-sketched-out Equestria Girls crossover for FtGoE (Celestia goes through the mirror and ends up in the distant past of the human world--and might even meet her human counterpart. Haven't decided how to work that in, though, as immortality doesn't really seem to be a thing in EqG...?). I don't want to give too many more details, as all my ideas are kinda spoilery!
Thanks so much for reading this far. I know this is cliche, but every fave and follow means so much to me--it's really what keeps me going.
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more stories!
