Noir Ponies · 2:23am Apr 10th, 2016
I think I found the only thing that I've been even remotely interested in writing for the past six months, and it's Noir. Between all the media I've been absorbing over the past few months, be it 40's-era films, Frank Miller's "Sin City," and my absolute favorite story on this site, "Starlight Over Detrot: A Noir Tale," I feel like I want to take a crack at it. The only problem with it is, I'm unsure how well it'd be recieved. Thus, I figured I'd run it past my followers and see what you all think of the idea.
I'm going WAY out of left field here, but I'm feeling an Alternate Universe story revolving around Twilight playing the role of a detective for the Baltimare Police Depeartment, investigating a string of crimes leading up to the mysterious disappearance of her brother, with a little help from informants and friends along the way. This'd be pre-princess Twilight, naturally, interacting with the Mane 6 outside of their typical roles; where Rarity is a smoky lounge songstress, Fluttershy the spaced-out pothead with hooves in a myriad of informative pools, Applejack as some mafia muscle and an old drinking buddy, Rainbow Dash as the irritable and over-worked Inspector that feeds Twilight assignments and leads, and Pinkie Pie as the crime scene specialist/coroner who gives Twilight the clues she needs.
I won't do anything as violent or gory as Frank Miller's work, but I'm not aiming for a teen rating like Starlight, either. The story will likely be tagged as Mature, but not with sex or gore, just for the overall tone of violence and dark activities going on.
Thoughts?
Personally, it sounds great. I love Starlight, and would like to see more noir stories 'round here.
I would love some pony noir.
Im in as long as there is some romance included
Well hey. This could be neat. I'd totally help with you if you'd like.
It would be good practice for me. Twilight in Tales is a hard-bitten too-old-for-this-shit (even though she's 19) copper on the streets of Fillydelphia.
Gilda episode/chapter is investigating some crime I haven't quite figured out yet, and inviting Twilight's battle buddy Gilda to assist, who is now a Pinkerton Detective.
Zecora episode/chapter, Z will stand trial for a murder she didn't commit, and it's up to Twilight and Pinkie to pin the right perp before she swings.

Maybe a little, but it won't be the focus or anything like that.
After the Rarity Investigates episode, I'm definitely down for some pony noir. :)
Noir sounds good. Sounds really good. Go for it.
For sure!
If your world building is on point then I have no problem, I want to smell the smoke in the lounge. You do good work so I would love to see what you got.
there are a million alternative universe setting to dig in ... so yeah, pony noir would be fine too i guess
